A text that describes the way things are, with reference to a range of
natural, man-made and social phenomena is called a report text. We can

information to the readers about a topic. An information report about an
object classifies information into different categories or examines the
components and various aspects of the object.

information reports. One of them is technological information reports.
They involve the classification and description of machines and inventions
that humans have built or discovered.

their function, and any other interesting features.

Talking about Technological Devices
Technological device means any computer, cellular phone, smartphone,
digital camera, video camera, audio recording device, or other electronic
device that can be used for creating, storing, or transmitting information in
the form of electronic data. An electric device is one that directly uses
electrical energy to perform a task.
When you talk about technological devices or electric devices, you usually
mention the following things.
1. Definition.

3. Characteristic or features.
4. Partisipan of the device.
5. History or first design of the device .
Those are facts. A fact is something that is known to have happened or to
exist, especially something for which proof exists, or about which there is
information. You cannot use opinions in reports.
A topic about technological devices or electric devices is not easy. Not all
people master this topic. When you are in a new situation or you want to
know about something, you may break the ice. It means that you do or say
something that makes people who do not know each other feel more
comfortable. Here are phrases to break the ice and start a conversation
with anyone.
Writing an Information Report
Information reports provide readers with information on a chosen topic by
providing them with facts. They are also known informative writing. The
focus of report texts is on describing the object in general rather than
discussing a sequence of actions. Let’s recall the general structure of
report text.
1. General Classification (Introduction)
It is also called general opening statement.
2. Description (Body)
It is body of the report. It contains a series of paragraphs describing facts
about various aspects and features of the subject. In technological
information reports, it is a description of the type of machine, how it is
powered, its appearance, important parts and their function, and any other
interesting features. Sometimes, there are illustrations or pictures of actual
machines to give information about size and shape of parts. Each
paragraph begins with a topic sentence followed by the characteristics,
details, and facts about the topic. Traditionally, the topic sentence is the
first sentence of the paragraph. It functions to introduce the details which
will explain the controlling idea. However, not all paragraphs have clear cut
topic sentences. The topic sentence can be placed at the beginning or the
end of the paragraph.
3. Conclusion (Optional)
