Need help completing your online application form? We’re here to help you prepare. Keep reading to find
out what we will ask you to provide when applying for a role with us here in St. James’s Hospital.

Online Job Advert and Role Profile/Job Description:


Our online job advertisement will provide you with some useful information about the role such as salary
and number of hours per week, if the role is permanent or for a specified purpose, job location and a brief
description of the role.

Our Role Profile/Job Description, which can be found as an attached document to the online job
advertisement, will provide a detailed description of the role, as well as a full list of all eligibility criteria,
qualifications and / or experience required.

Useful tip: we recommend that you open and save a copy of the Role Profile/Job Description – you may
want to look at this document again as you complete your application!

Completing your online application form:


To complete your online application, you'll need:

 an account on our Applicant Tracking System (ATS) website


 your personal details / contact details
 your education history and qualifications
 your employment history
 References
 Membership of Professional Body details (where applicable)
 Technical / Clinical competency details (where applicable)

If you already have an account on our ATS site, please log in at this point. To set up a new account, please
click ‘Apply’ and then register by following the on-screen instructions.

The progress bar at the top of the page shows which section of the application form you're updating. Use the
continue button at the bottom of the page to move to the next step. Your changes will be saved each time
you do this. You can also return to an earlier step if you want to make changes. If you want to save your
changes and come back later, click on save and exit.
Personal details
To start, we will ask you for your personal details including name, email address and phone number. We will
use this information to contact you during the recruitment process. You can also detail your work permit/visa
status, as well as detailing any employment gaps or education gaps that you may have.

Education History
Next, we will ask about your education and qualification(s). Please include all of your education history and
all of your qualifications that you hold, as well as including the grades achieved. To add another Education
record, simply click on the ‘+Add’ beside the Education History title– please note you can add as many as you
need to.

Note: Information that you provide in this section may be used for shortlisting to the next stage of the
recruitment process.

Employment History
We will now ask you about your employment history. Please include all of your previous roles and provide
all details including a description of duties / areas worked. To add another Employment record, simply click
on the ‘+Add’ beside the Employment History title– please note you can add as many as you need to.

Note: Information that you provide in this section may be used for shortlisting to the next stage of the
recruitment process.

References
Please give details of at least two referees whom we may contact – at least one reference must be from your
current manager/employer.

Additional Information
In this section, please enter details relating to any membership of Professional Registered Bodies if applicable
to you, based on the requirements on the Role Profile (e.g. NMBI - Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland /
CORU - Health and Social Care Professionals / Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland etc.)

Note 1: Information that you provide in this section may be used for shortlisting to the next stage of the
recruitment process.

Note 2: Please be aware that as part of our shortlisting process, we will verify all Membership details
provided. Invalid Membership details will result in you not being considered for shortlisting.

Assessment / Application questions


Many of our roles are competency based and will include Technical / Clinical Competencies. If applicable to
the role you are applying for, this section will be mandatory on your application form. To complete this
section correctly, please refer to the Role Profile for details of the 'Technical and/or Clinical Competencies'
(example provided below) required as a minimum for this vacancy. For each of the required competencies
(which will be numbered 1, 2, 3 etc.) you will be required to provide examples of your current level of
knowledge, skill and/or experience for each of these Technical and/or Clinical Competencies.
Technical/Clinical Competencies
Please note for each of the required competencies below, you will be required to provide
examples of your current level of knowledge, skill and/or experience for each of these under the
Application Questions section of the application form.

Simply enter each of the below as a heading, and provide your knowledge, skills and experience in
the corresponding numbered box under the Application Questions section of the application
form.

Required:

1. Excellent Keyboard Skills


2. Excellent working knowledge of MS Office (Word and Excel) and E-mail

Desirable:

 Working knowledge of Healthcare Patient Records systems e.g. PAS, EPR and/or
 Working knowledge of IT systems relevant to the area (e.g. SAP, Genesis).

For the above example, you would be required to provide examples of your current level of knowledge, skill
and/or experience for 1). Excellent Keyboard Skills & 2). Excellent working knowledge of MS Office (Word
and Excel) and Email

Useful Tip: You may wish to prepare your answers elsewhere (e.g. word document / notepad) before
copying and pasting into this application form as there is a 30-minute session timeout on this page.

Information that you provide in this section may be used for shortlisting to the next stage of the recruitment
process.
