Furthermore, to graph a circle with center at the origin, simply get the radius
using the formula x 2+ y 2=r 2 and to locate the radius, start form the origin r units to
the left and to right, above and below then connect it with a smooth curve to form a
round circle.

What I Can Do
Answer the situation below to apply what you have learned.
A radio services a 4-kilometer radius. You stop walking 2 kilometers,
east (negative x-axis) and 4 kilometer south (negative y-axis) of the tower whose
units represent kilometer.
1. Sketch the graph
2. Will you be able to receive radio waves from the tower?
Lesson
In the previous lesson, you were able to graph the equation of a circle x2+y2 =
r2. This lesson will teach you how to graph the Standard Form of the equation of a
circle (x−h)2 +( y−k )2=r 2. This equation is also known as the Center – Radius form.
What’s New
5
Solution: The Standard Form of the equation of the circle (x−1)2+( y +5)2=100 can
be written in the form ( x−h)2 +( y−k )2=r 2
2
( x−1) +( y −(−5)) =¿10
2 2 2 2
( x−1) +( y +5) =100
Thus, the center of the circle is (1, -5) and its radius is 10 units. Its graph is
shown below
What is it
The lesson for today is about the graph of the standard equation of a circle
with center of (h, k) and a radius of r units is (x−h)2 +( y−k )2=r 2. The values of h and
k indicates that the circle is translated h units horizontally and k units vertically from
the origin. To graph the standard equation or the center-radius form, all you need do
is plot the center of the circle at (h,k), and then count out from the center r units in
four directions (right, left, above, below) then, connect these four points with a
smooth curve to form a round circle.
P (x,y)
(h,k)

To know more about the lesson, try to practice the following exercises.
Draw the graph of the standard form of the equation of a circle.

What I Can Do
Hello! Welcome to Lesson 3. In this lesson, you will know how to graph the
general equation of a circle x 2+ y 2+ Dx + Ey+ F=0. In order to graph the general
equation of a circle, you need to transform/rewrite this equation to a standard form or
center-radius form.
What’s New
Here is an example for you to master the topic. Analyze
and understand.
Draw the graph of a circle x 2+ y 2−6 x−10 y +18=0 and find the center
and the radius of the circle
Solution: The equation of the circle x 2+ y 2−6 x−10 y +18=0 is written in general
form. To determine its center and radius. Write the equation in the form
2 2 2
( x−h) +( y−k ) =r
2 2 2 2
x + y −6 x−10 y +18=0 x +−6 x+ y −10 y=−18
Add to both sides of the equation x 2+−6 x+ y 2−10 y=−18 the square of one-half the
coefficient of x and the square of one-half the coefficient of y.
1 1
(−6 )=−3 ; (−3 )2=9 (−10 )=−5; (−5 )2=25
2 2
2 2
Simplify: x +−6 x+ 9+ y −10 y +25=−18+9+25
2 2
x +−6 x+ 9+ y −10 y +25=16
2
( x +−6 x+ 9)+( y ¿¿ 2−10 y +25)=16 ¿
8
In rewriting, we obtain (x−3)2 +( y−5)2=16 or (x−3)2 +( y−5)2=4 2. The
center of the circle is at (3,5) and its radius is 4

What I Can Do
The Province of Bukidnon decided to give relief goods to those who are
most affected area of the pandemic COVID-19 through its municipalities due to the
limited budget the Provincial governor assign to release by batch. The coverage of
the first batch will only cater the given equation x 2+ y 2+ 8 x −14 y−16=0.
1. Sketch the graph.
2. If the location of Maramag Municipalities is in the coordinate (3,10) are
they included in the first batch?

Lesson
In your previous grade, you learned how to plot point in coordinate plane. This
time, you can graph other geometrical figures using your previous knowledge in
plotting point. You have at least one hour to finish this module.
What’s New
Plot each set of points on the coordinate plane, then connect the consecutive
points by a line segment and describe each figure form.
1. A (-4,0), B (0,6), C (4,0)

What Is It
11
Today’s lesson is about graphing other geometrical figures. To plot any point,
start at the origin, where the two axes cross. The first number tells you how far to go
to the right (if positive) or left (if negative) along the horizontal axis while the second
number tells you how far to go above (if positive) or below (if negative) along the
vertical axis. Then connect the points with a segment to form a geometrical figure.
What’s More
To further your knowledge, try these practice exercises.
Plot each set of points on the coordinate plane. Then connect the consecutive
points by a line segment and describe each figure form.
1. 2. B (0,d)

The treasure hunters wanted to find Danlims treasure somewhere in
Bukidnon. They start digging at the coordinate A (-7,0) going to North 7 meters
away, turn right going to west 10 meters away, turn right again going south 12
meters, turn left going to west 5 meters and get the treasure. (Its grid is equivalent to
1 meter)
1. Sketch the graph.
2. What is the coordinate of the treasure?
3.
Summary
This lesson was about the graphical representation of the equation of a circle
and some geometrical figures and their application in real life. This lesson provided
you with the opportunities the actual graphing of the circle and other geometrical
figures and use them in practical situation.
