GUIDELINES FOR THE 2025 WRITERS CONTEST

A. PREAMBLE
The Pentecost Writers Contest is an annual contest organized by the Youth Ministry to unearth
the talents of members of the Church, both youth and adults, who have the flair for writing.

B. PROCEDURE AND GUIDELINES FOR THE 2025 CONTEST


The 2025 Contest is a special edition of the Pentecost Writers Contest.
Interested writers can choose from any of the topics below:

1. Reaching everyone for Jesus: The case for Personal evangelism

2. The Role of the Next-Generation Church in Addressing Social Issues in Ghana

3. The Role of Young Christians in Combating Poverty, Inequality and Social Injustice in
Ghana

4. The place of the younger generation in the transformation of spheres with the values and
principles of the Kingdom of God.

5. Corruption in Ghana: Its Effects on Youth, Communities, and the Nation

6. The Impact of Social Media on Christian Youth in Ghana

7. The Intersection of Politics and Religion in Ghana: The Youth Perspective

8. Addressing Domestic Violence in Ghanaian Homes: Implications for Young Couples

9. The Role of Young Christian Leaders in Promoting National Development

C. OPENING OF CONTEST
The contest officially opened on Sunday, 5th January, 2025 after the climax of the PENSA Ghana
conference 2025.
D. SUBMISSION OF ARTICLES
Applicants must submit their articles through [email protected] to the
NATIONAL WRITERS CONTEST COMMITTEE by 30th June 2025. All articles submitted
after the stipulated date shall be rejected.
An applicant may submit more than one script provided they are not within the same thematic
area.

E. ASSESSMENT OF SCRIPTS
Areas for consideration would include how rich and sound the arguments raised in dealing with
the topic being written on. In addition, the laws that govern essay writing in English Language
would be uncompromisingly employed. The writer’s ability to sustain the interest of the youth
and his readers at large will be a plus. Above all else, the contest looks for originality of thought
as the goal of the contest is to help develop the potentials of those with the flair for writing. This
shall not be compromised.

THE WORD LIMIT IS 3000 – 4000 WORDS

Applicants must indicate their Name, Area, Campus or PENSA Sector.

Marking Scheme
Content - 30 marks
Organization - 10 marks
Expression - 20 marks
Mechanical Accuracy - 20 marks
Originality of thought - 20 marks

F. TIMELINES
 Submission of Articles - Applicants must submit their articles latest by 30th June, 2025.
 Marking of scripts and discussions by national committee: July 2025
 Oral Defence: August 2025
 Declaration of Winner, Receiving of Awards: August 2025 (During the Oral Defence)
