UNIT III
PROJECTION OF SOLIDS:
1. Solid with axis inclined to one RP and parallel to the other
 Case (i): Axis inclined to the HP and parallel to the VP
 Case (ii): Axis inclined to the VP and parallel to the HP

 Projection of Prism, Pyramid, Cylinder and Cone.

1. Draw the projection of a hexagonal pyramid of base side 25 mm & axis height 70mm rests on HP

on one of its base edges with the triangular face containing that edge is inclined at 35º to HP with

the axis parallel to VP.

2. A pentagonal prism of base side 30 mm & axis height 65mm is lying on the ground on one of its

base edge such that the axis is parallel to VP and the base is inclined at 30º to HP. Draw the

projections.

3. Draw the projection of a cylinder of a diameter 40 mm, height 70mm rest on the HP on one of its

base points with the axis parallel to VP and inclined at 30º to HP.

4. Draw the projection of a cone of diameter 30 mm & altitude 50 mm rests on HP with its apex

such that the nearest base circle point is 20 mm above HP and the axis is parallel to VP.

5. A square prism of base side 30 mm, axis height 65 mm is kept such that the base is on VP with a

base edge inclined at 45º to HP. It is then tilted at 45 º to VP. Draw the projections.

6. Draw the projection of a cylinder of diameter 30 mm, & axis 50 mm long, when it lies on HP on

one of its generators & the base is perpendicular to HP and inclined at 60º to VP.
7. Draw the projection of a pentagonal pyramid of base side 30 mm & axis height 65 mm whose

axis is parallel to HP and inclined at 30º to VP with a base corner in VP.

8. A cone of diameter 50 mm, axis height 75 mm is lying on HP on one of its base point with its

axis inclined at 40º to HP and parallel to VP. Draw the projections.

9. Draw the projections of a pentagonal prism, base 25 mm side and axis 50 mm long, resting on

one of its rectangular faces on the H.P. with the axis inclined at 45º to the V.P

Unit IV
SECTION OF SOLIDS:
 Introduction
 Cutting plane inclined to HP and perpendicular to VP
1. A square prism of base side 30 mm and axis length 60 mm is resting on HP on one of its bases,
with a base side inclined at 25° to VP. It is cut by a plane inclined at 40° to HP and
perpendicular to VP and is bisecting the axis of the prism. Draw its front view and true shape
of section.
2. A square pyramid of base side 30 mm and axis length 60 mm is resting on HP on its base with
one side of base inclined at 30° to VP. It is cut by a plane inclined at 45° to HP and perpendicular
to VP and passes through the axis at a distance 25 mm from the apex. Draw its front view, sectional
top view and true shape of the section.
3. A cylinder of base diameter 40 mm and axis length 55 mm is resting on HP on its base. It is
cut by a plane inclined at 45° to HP and perpendicular to VP. The plane is passing through a
point on the circumference of the top base. Draw its front view, sectional top view, and true
shape of section.
4. A cone of base diameter 65 mm and axis length 75 mm, resting on HP on its base is cut by a plane
inclined at 45° to HP and perpendicular to VP, passing through a point 35 mm below the apex. Draw
the front view and sectional top view and true shape of this section

DEVELOPMENT OF SURFACES:
 Cutting plane inclined to HP and perpendicular to VP
1. A pentagonal prism, base 20 mm side and axis 40 mm long resting with its base on the HP and

one edge of the base is parallel to and away from VP. It is cut by a section plane perpendicular to

the VP and inclined at 45 degree to the HP and bisecting the axis. Draw the development.
2. A hexagonal prism of base 30 mm and axis length 60 mm is resting on HP on its base with two of
its vertical faces perpendicular to VP. It is cut by a plane inclined at 50⁰ to HP and perpendicular
to VP and meets the axis of prism at a distance of 25 mm from the top end. Draw the development
of the lateral surface of prism.
3. A hexagonal pyramid of base side 30 mm and height 60 mm rests vertically on its base on the

ground with two of its base sides parallel to VP. It is cut by a sectional plane inclined at 30⁰ to HP

and perpendicular to VP and meeting the axis at the midpoint. Draw the development of the lateral

surfaces of a truncated pyramid

4. A pentagonal pyramid, base 30mm side and axis 60 mm long is resting with its base on the HP

and one edge of the base is perpendicular to VP. It is cut by a section plane perpendicular to the

VP inclined at 60 degree to the HP and bisecting the axis Draw the development of the pyramid.

5. A cylinder base 50 mm diameter and axis 60 mm long is resting with its base on HP. It is cut by a

section plane, perpendicular to the VP, inclined at 45º to the HP and intersecting the axis at a point
