Problems on Series and parallel circuits

Solve on separate paper and attach it to this sheet.

Answer:
a) 1/Rtotal = 1/R1+1/R2……
1/Rtotal = 1/250 + 1/250 = 2/250ohms
Rtotal = 120ohms

b) Rtotal = R1+R2+R3……
Rtotal = 125ohms + 300ohms =
Rtotal = 425ohms
c) V = IR.. So if we are calculating the current we can rearrange the formula to retrieve the
following formula: I = V/R
I = 120 / 425
I = 0.28 A

Answer:

2: resistance of parallel circuit = 4ohms

Rtotal = 25ohms + 15ohms + 4ohms
= 44ohms

Using Ohms law we can find the current

V = IR , I = V/R
I = 12/44
I = 0.27 A
Answer:
3: Resistance of Parallel Circuit 1 (LHS) = 1/R1 + 1/R2
1/25 + 1/15 = 15/375 + 25/375 = 40/375

1/ R = 40/375
R = 375/40
R1 = 9.375 ohms

Resistance of Parallel Circuit 2 (RHS) = 1/R1 + 1/R2

1/10 + 1/30 = 30/300 + 10/300
1/R= 40/300
R = 300/40
R2 = 7.5 ohms

Rtotal = R1 + R2
Rtotal = 9.375 ohms + 7.5 ohms
Rtotal = 16.88

Current:
I = V/R
I = 6/16.88
I = 0.36 A
