1. POSITION DESCRIPTION:

2. JOB PURPOSE:
To plan and execute inspections of ship repairs (hull, machinery, electrical, piping and painting) in
order to ensure compliance with quality standards, international and Asyad Drydock Company’s
(ADC) standards, procedures and project specifications.

4. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Description
▪ Provide complete and accurate reports to Superior on duty.
▪ Knowledgeable in preparing relevant dimensional and accuracy control procedure.
▪ Preparation for dimensional inspection plan and check sheet and providing correct information to
production, class and client relative to all dimensional control process and activities.
▪ Preparation of daily service and end of work reports.
▪ Able to perform/prepare paperwork and other documentation required (i.e. service reports,
certificates, etc.)
▪ Establishment of diagnostics.
▪ Technical experience: mechanical, hydraulic, hull structures and electrical.
▪ Carry out QC work for ship repair.
▪ Develop method statement for the activity including risk assessment and job safety environmental
analysis and Inspection Test Plan and Checklist based on specifications of the project.
▪ Taking care of QA/QC documents of the entire project including certificates, calibration, test
results, inspection requests, non-compliance reports and site instruction/observations, permanent
materials delivered and other QA/QC documents. Responsible for the closure of Non-conformance,
NCR and Site Instruction, SI.
▪ Coordinate with the consultant’s representative and Site In-charge for inspection and meeting
about quality problems including the closure of Non-Compliance Report.
▪ To maintain high standards of quality for all methods and processes.
Inspection Plan
▪ Review and analyse ship repair specifications in order to prepare the inspection plan, including a
checklist of inspection points to be covered during critical phases of work.
Material Inspection
▪ Inspect materials received in the warehouse and used in production in order to ensure that they
meet applicable project specifications and conform to the agreed contract.

Project Quality Control
▪ Understand project specific requirements and monitor and control the quality of ship repairs in
order to ensure that works are carried out as per procedures, ADC and industry quality standards,
technical instructions and other project-specific criteria.
Production/Installation Inspections
▪ Carry out inspections during ship repairs in order to ensure compliance of production works and
installations with drawings, specifications, quality, and other applicable standards.
Testing
▪ Schedule, coordinate and observe tests on mechanical components, systems and equipment in
order to ensure standards are met.
Non-Conformities
▪ Assist in the handling of non-conformities in order to support in their resolution following an
inspection.
Final Inspection
▪ Carry out the final inspection with the customer in order to ensure compliance of the final product
with standards, requirements and contractual agreements.
Documentation and Recordkeeping
▪ Prepare and maintain inspection records, reports and relevant documentation in order to ensure
timely and effective reporting of information as well as availability of accurate information for any
future reference.
Quality Support
▪ As and when required by the QA/QC Manager, assist in the provision of quality assurance support
to project and production teams in order to ensure that project-specific requirements are achieved,
in line with customer, ADC and industry quality standards.
Quality Management System
▪ Maintain the quality management system and related procedures and processes in order to ensure
the effective support of the projects’, employees’ and customers’ quality assurance process needs,
in line with ISO standards.

▪ Follow all relevant QA/QC policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so
that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

▪ Adhere to all relevant health, safety and environmental procedures, instructions and controls in
order to guarantee the safety of employees, quality of products/ services and environmental
compliance.

Minimum Qualifications:
▪ Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering-related field or an equivalent qualification.
Minimum Experience:
▪ 5 years of relevant experience as a quality engineer/inspector in a ship repair/building company
preferably with a focus on QC related to hull, machinery, piping and painting
▪ Qualified in mechanical or industrial maintenance, with at least 5 years’ experience.
▪ Skilled in hydraulics, mechanical work, Hull structures and Electricity.
▪ Experience in ISO certified organisations.
