1 INTRODUCTION

1、INTRODUCTION
Study this manual before carrying out any operations on the machine.

1.1 Purpose of the manual


This manual must be considered as an integral part of the machine.
This manual defines the purpose machine was built and contains all the necessary to
guarantee safe, correct use.
Diligent observance of the recommendations provided in this manual will ensure
operator and machine safety, economical functioning and a prolonged machine life.
The drawings are intended merely as examples. Although the machine in your
possession may differ noticeably from that shown in the illustrations in this manual, its
safety and the information provided are guaranteed.
In accordance with a policy of constant product development and updating, the
manufacturer reserves the right to make modifications without prior notice.

2、TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION

2.1 Scope of the work


The machine is made for producing pocket spring strings. It is capable of coiling
springs, spring heat treatment, cool down, non-woven pockets forming, packing spring in
pockets and regulating the strings unload out. Presetting length springs can be made when
working with our counting and cutting machine. The strings can be assembled in
semiautomatic assembling machine. It is also working with our automatic assembling
machine, consisted a fully automatic transfer line for pocket innerspring unit.
The features of the machine include follow:
1. High capacity. Maximum 120 springs per minite can be packed into pocket by the
machine. The spring string be transfer to assembler and be made to spring units. The
capacity can be 80-100 sheets of spring units per shift (capacity depends on the coil counts
in one sheet.)
2. Less workers. One worker is enough for the machine to start the running, adjusting, wire
feeding, fault solved and collecting the spring units etc.
3. The size and height of the spring, the width and length of the spring inner unit made by
machine can be set-up in advance.
4. The accessories are supplied including tools for adjustments and maintenance and
sufficient spare parts.
5. Safety facilitied including safety cabin, guard cover, safety marks and alarm devices etc
to guarantee the safety production effectivety.
6. By closing the safety cabin, and fanning out flue gas at the top of the cabin, the machine
run with well environment.

The machine is built to guarantee maximum operator safety thanks to mechanical


protection devices and safety switches.(fig.2-1)
1. Safety cabin
Safety cabin and the guards was designed to protect personnel from the potential
hazards of moving elements worked by the machine.
2. Heat treatment device
High temperature! Do not touch these surfaces
3. Electric control cabin
Before accessing electrical parts, turn OFF the mains power supply by turning the main
machine switch to OFF position.
4. Welder Do not touch by hand.
5. Do not remove the safety devices.
6. Emergency stop push-push-button
To stop the machine in cases of imminent danger.

2.4 Working area


Machine working area must be sufficient,failure to respect the envisaged spaces may
create danger situations for the operator and personnel near the machine.(fig.2-2)

2.6 Working principle


In packing machine, the feeding length of wire, diameter and pitch of spring, the cut
off of the wire were controlled by servomotors. After feeding from swift, which is keeping
the tension, the wire was entered into heat treatment device, and is tempering, entered into
coiler and coiled into springs. The springs drop in spring transfer device, by the cooling unit
mounting the up side on the transfer device, the temperature of springs is drop down.
The motor change into servomotor, machine can easy set up diameter or pitch of the
springs, these adjusting can also make in production on time.
The spring transfers run synchronized with the coiler. The belt transfer run
synchronized with cloth driver and finished work spring packing in.
There are cloth tension controlling device, cloth offset measuring and controlling
device in cloth driver.

3、SAFETY SPECIFICATION

3.1 General safety standards


1. Study the operating and maintenance instructions before unpacking, installing, starting,
operating, servicing or effecting any other operation on the machine.
2. Always observe the safety notes in this manual and the safety plates applied directly to
the machine.

4. Lifting, installation, maintenance, extraordinary adjustments and work on the electrical
system must all be carried out by suitably trained personnel.
5. Do not perform any operations which may compromise safety.

3.2 Safety standards for handling


1. Lifting and handing operation must be carried out using suitable means and by
specialized personnel, trained in this type of manoeuvre.
2. The presence of a second person may be a help for indications during handling and
installation.
3. Lift the machine with suitable equipment and observe the recommended precautions to
avoid injury to persons or damage to objects.
4. Never stand near suspended loads, or within working range of cranes or fork-lift trucks.

3.3 Safety Standards for adjustments and operation


1. Never use the machine for purposes other than that for which it was specifically
designed.
2. The operator must be in a suitable physical and mental condition for the operation of
complex machinery.
3. Ensure that the working area in front of the machine is always clean and free of obstacles,
allowing immediate access to the electrical control pane in case of emergency.
4. Always follow start sequence indicated.
5. Never place your hands or objects near to or inside moving parts or live parts of the
machine or electrical cabinet.
6. Before starting production, check that the working area is free of all sources of potential
hazard.
7. When working in poorly illuminated conditions, use all the lights available and ensure
that they are efficient. Report all burnt-out bulbs and substitute immediately.
8. Never leave the machine unattended while it is running.

9. Do not allow unauthorized persons to approach the machine while it is running.


10. Do not operate the machine with the protection or guards open.
11. Never work with the safety devices disabled or out of order.
12. Always maintain a clear view of working areas.
13. Report any faults in special devices to the maintenance personnel.
14. For the purpose of safety, ensure that sleeve cuffs are tightly buttoned.
15. Never feed into the machine any material other than those envisaged for use.
16. Before starting the machine, check that no extraneous materials have been left on or
inside it.
17. The machine must always be used in accordance with the methods, schedules and
locations envisaged by the safe manufacturing practices, in company law, in force in each
country.
18. Operator access to the inside of the electrical cabinet is strictly forbidden, unless said
operator holds authorization which guarantees his/her qualification for operations of this
nature.

3.4 Safety Standards for maintenance


1. Never allow unauthorized persons repairs or maintenance operations.
2. Study the instructions manual before carrying out maintenance on the machine.
3. To avoid injury from moving parts, never lubricate repair or adjust the machine while it is
running unless expressly indicated in the instructions manual.
4. Stop the machine in accordance with the procedures envisaged by the instructions manual
before lubricating or carrying out any other operations.
5. Keep maintenance equipment clean and in good condition. Never modify, transform or
add to the machine if such operations could interfere with safety.

3.5 Operate safety


1. Always keep maintenance equipment clean and good condition.
2. The use of suitable gloves is obligatory when unloading springs.

4、Handling and installation

4.1 Transform
The machine can be transported by container, or truck.. The machine can unload to
several parts, in order to facility to transport and loading. Arrival the site, install to whole
complete unit.

4.2 Lifting and unloading


The parts of the machine should be handled with a fork-let truck only( fig.4-1 ).

4.3 Installation
4.3.1 Installation area
1. The machine must be installed in a covered, dry place. The environment must be clean
and free of flammable materials.
2. Good lighting is essential in order to carry out the work correctly.
3. It must be possible to connect an air extractor duct to the air outlet A. The fitting of an
active carbon filter is recommended.
4. The floor must be flat, with a load bearing capacity of at least 3000 kg/m2.
5. Easy access for loading wire rolls and unloading springs is essential.

4.3.2 Positioning and leveling


1. Always use suitable means (crane, bridge crane) when handling the machine at the
installation site position the machine in accordance with the installation plan (fig. 2-2 )
2. Level the machine using the leveling screws A. (fig4-2)

4.4. Electric connections


1. Positioning the main machine, the swift and the stack, make sure stand stably.
2. Plug the machine swift and stack electrical cables into the electrical control panel
according to the index on the cable.
3. Make sure the power in use is not less then 10kw, and the voltage is in correspondence
with the machine normal voltage.
4. Plug the three-phase power supply and ground cable into socket on the panel. The
diameter of the cable is not less than 10mm².
5. Remove the swift handling devices, close all protective guards.
6. Turn ON the main machine switch. Release the two emergency stop push-button.
7. Check the machine power phase, Verify the rotation direction by wind direction of
cooling fan, when rotation direction is wrong invert two wires of the power supply cable.
8. Turn ON the main machine switch, reset the emergency button, press the Main START
push-button, machine is on ready.

5、GENERAL INFORMATION ON ADJUSTMENTS


5.1 General information on adjustments
1. The adjustments serve to vary the shape of the springs and to guarantee uninterrupted
production.
2. The machine must be adjusted before starting production to obtain spring of the ideal
shape.
3. Minor adjustments may be necessary during production, to correct the pitch.
4. Adjustments must only be made by qualified personnel.
5. Some adjustments will affect others, so that when an adjustment is made all the
consequences must be checked.

5.2 Structure of the servo coiler


The servo coiler was adopted in the machine. This merit is higher speed for coil spring,
and the dimension and sharp of the spring can be adjusted on time. The structure of the
coiler is show in fig.5-1.
The coiler is consisted of the wire feeding device(1) driven by servo motor (5)., coil
diameter controlling device (2) driven by servo motor (8), spring pitch controlling device (3)
driven by servo motor (7), and the cutter driven by servo motor (6). The spring parameter
adjustment is display on the display screen, see chapter 7.

5.3 Insert the wire


Drawn the wire 2 from the wire guider and the swift, tread into heat treatment device 3,
then tread into the feeding roller of the coiler, the methods shown fig .5-2.
1. Open the cover of the heat treatment device 3 , tread the wire 2 in.
2. After tread the wire, loosen the screw , the lower feeding roller will upward and press the
wire.
3.Close the cover.

5.4 Calculating the length of the wire and adjusting the shape of
the spring
The wire length in a spring is defined by the diameter and the number of coils.
1. Calculate the theoretical wire length for the spring to be produced using the basic formula
bellow:
L=2π (De+d)+ n√[3.14(Di+d)]^2+T^2}:
n = total coils - 2
De = inside diameter of end coil
Di = waist diameter mm
d = wire diameter mm
T : spring pitch mm
H = height of the spring mm (fig. 5-3)

2. Input the value into control box and make the unfinished spring..

5.5 Adjusting the cutter

The blade is of weld on the blade seat. The fixed blade 1 is mounted on the fixed block.
The mobile blade 2 is mounted on the cutter lever 5. The clearance between fixed blade and
mobile blade is 0.1~0.2 mm.(fig.5-7)
Clearance adjustment:
Loosen the screw 3, move the fixed blade 1, measure the clearance between fixed
blade and mobile blade. Tighten the screws.

Springs made by the coiler must be enter into the cavity on the chain transfer, so the
location of the coiler must be adjusted.(fig.5-8)

1. Altitude adjustment
Loosen the screw 1, up or down the sleeve 2 within the coiler base, after adjustment
tighten the screw 1.
2. Move or offset
Take off four screws and pressing plate, move or offset the coiler to position which is
need, finish install four pressing plate and screws, tight the screws.

5.7 Heat treatment device adjustment


Heat treatment device has been finished installed, when the machine delivery by the
manufacture. Check the position of pressing block 2 corresponding to the electrode
1.(fig.5-9)

5.8 Checking the heat treating temperature


1. Jog the spring through the heat treatment unit.
2. Grasp the spring immediately by the end ring on the opposite side of the electrode and
take it out of the transfer hand.
3. Grasp the spring immediately by the end ring on the opposite side of the electrode and
take it out of the transfer hand.

5.9 Testing setting loss


1. Measure the height of a heat treated spring.
2. Compress the spring about 10 times.
3. Measure the height again. The difference to the first measurement is the setting loss and
must be kept as low as possible.
4. If the loss is excessive readjust the temperature.
Other causes for a excessive setting loss
Poor wire quality, Waist diameter too small, length and thickness of the wire.

5.10 Adjusting the swift

The speed of the swift is dependent on the swift motor. There are two kind of the speed
for the swift, the normal speed and the accelerated speed. Setup for the normal speed must
according to the diameter of the wire bobbin, the normal speed lower little than the feeding
speed need by the coiler. The accelerate speed faster than the normal speed. When the
normal speed does not pitching the feeding speed, the wire guide wheel (2) raise up quickly,
the sensor (1) on, than the speed switch to the accelerate speed. If the feeding speed become
too fast, the guide wheel (2) will be down, the sensor (1) on, the feeding speed switch back
to the normal speed.(fig.5-10)
1. Estimate the normal speed, if the rating of production of 80 springs/rain using rolls of
wire with a mean diameter of 500 mm, this speed is equivalent to 53 rpm.
2. Setup the normal speed on the swift inverter.
3. Setup the accelerated speed on the swift inverter.
4. Adjusting the swift speed, when the change on the roller diameter, or on the rating of the
production.

5.11 Replace the belt and tighten the belt

When replace the belt, it is need to remove the upper cover plates 2. At first, loosen
the screws 1, to release the tighten pulley. Then loosen and remove all the screw on cover
plates2 and then remove the cover plates 2. Remove the belt 4. Replace new belt. Install
the cover plates 2, tighten the screws, adjusting the tightness of the belt.(fig5-11)

5.12 Belt driven channel width adjust


Belt driven channel width equal to present pocket spring height minimized by 5
cm-6cm.
Loosen two screws 1, move both belt driven units along the lines of lower channels,
make sure for symmetric of both sides units. The inlet of channel should be aligning with
the outlet of chain driven channel. After locating, tighten the screws.(fig.5-12)

The belt must be tight, and has been adjusted in factory. If belt is loose, can tighten by
the screws (fig5-17).
In order to produce the spring which diameter is less then 50 mm, the carrier should be
adjusted. Loosen the screw 1, 2, swing the bolt 3, make sure the carrier 4 go down, to
reduce the value S.

The machine be lubricated mechanical oil, and supply by one automatic oil pumps. The
right side pump used to lubrication of main parts of the machine. The oil tube tied to the all
lubricated point. The oil should be applied with mechanical oil No.32.

7.1 Operation panel introduction
7.1.1 Main panel
Mainly for the user operation,such as machine start,stop and other main functions are
included.

1. Touch screen:The detailed operation refer to Chapter 2


2. Fault reset button: Light turns on steady when an immediate stop failure occurs; Light
flashes when other failure occurs. Eliminate the fault, then press the button to fault reset.
When reset immediate stop failure, machine will stop after finishing the current spring
coiling.
3. Start button: When machine is ready, click on this button to turn on the machine; If the
machine is unable to start, the touch screen will display the fault. When the machine is
normal working,the light is on steady. When the machine is in Manual mode or about to

stop, the light will flash.


4. Diaphragm test button:In Manual mode, click this button to test the diaphragm.

6. Emergency reset button: Light is on when machine power on or the stop button is
pressed.Release stop button, press Emergency reset button to reset the machine .
7. Stop button: Click this button to stop the machine after finishing the current spring
coiling.
8. Edge test button: In Manual mode, click this button to edge test.
Hand wheel: Use with touch screen, refer to7.2.3.2.8.

7.1.2 Swift operation panel

1. Swift step forward button: Press this button, the swift forward until the button is released
2. Swift step reverse button: Press this button, the swift reverse until the button is
released.Press this button while the machine is running, and the thread stand will switch to a
low speed gear.
3. Stop button: Press this button to stop machine after finishing the current spring.
4. Emergency stop button: In an emergency, press this button to emergency stop the machine. It can
be set to completely power off the machine or press to stop the fault processing immediately, which

2)Coiling device interface 2

In this interface you can set the spring string with different spring size.
1. Spring string Name: You can pick up name here
2. Spring string arrange: You can set different spring size by press it, it will change to
spring A/B/C,in order to make out a desired spring string.
3. Spring quantity: Set spring quantity in one spring string,it will only be effect when the
quantity more than 8. Set quantity to 0 means turn off this function。
4. Copy A: Press it for 1 second, all springs in string will change to A.
5. Copy B: Press it for 1 second, all springs in string will change to B.
6. Copy C: Press it for 1 second, all springs in string will change to C.
7. Open spring string: Press it will enter in interface 2-1 coiling device 2A.
8. Save spring string: Press it will enter in interface 2-2 coiling device 2B.

In this interface you can set the spring string for production management.
1. Production name: You can pick up name here.

4. Set the string quantity you need for this zoning. EG: set 00#=5 , 01#=5, 02#=5
5. Showing the spring’s quantity in current string.
EG: in 00#, each string’s spring qty=20,here will be 20
6. Showing the current spring’s count in current string, and can be edit
EG: in 00#, each string ‘s spring qty=20, here will be 1/2/3/4....20
7. Showing the current string’s count , and can be edit
EG: set 00#=5 , 01#=5, 02#=5, total set 15 strings, here will be 1/2/3/4...15
8. Showing the planned string steps/string kinds
EG: set 00#=5 , 01#=5, 02#=5,here will be 3
9. Showing the plan string’s count , and can be edit
EG: set 00#=5 , 01#=5, 02#=5,here will be 1/2/3
If upper point 5-9 is in wrong procedure, can be adjust and keep running as planned.
10. Enter in you will see all saved production plan
11. Open the production plan you need
12. Save the plan you want, and max can save 4 types production plan into system

This interface shows the operation of coiling device by hand wheel button,and the state
of the mechanism.
1. Auto/Manual: Switch between Auto/Manual modes
2. Back to Zero position: Press this button for one second in Manual mode,the coiling
device will complete a process of Zero position returning
3. Hand wheel main switch
4. Coil diameter hand wheel switch
5. Cutting hand wheel switch
6. Pitch hand wheel switch
7. Steel wire feeding hand wheel switch
When the hand wheel main switch is on,you are able to turn on the switches of Coil
diameter,Cutting,Pitch and Steel wire feeding.
