PERFORMANCE TASK 2: "Innovation Relay - Build

and Present!"

Objective: Students will design and present a product inspired by innovations from
ancient times, the Middle Ages, or modern times.
Materials: Art supplies, recycled materials, presentation tools (poster boards or
slides).

Instructions:

1. Divide the class into small groups. Assign each group an era or let them choose one.
2. Groups select one major technological contribution from their era and design a modern-day
version of it.
1. Example: A modern aqueduct system inspired by ancient Rome or an updated
printing press from the Middle Ages.
3. Groups create a prototype, drawing, or presentation to showcase their "updated" invention.
4. Presentations should include:

1. The original invention’s purpose and significance.


2. How their version improves or adapts it for current use.

"Technological Milestones Through the Ages"

Objective: Students will identify and sequence significant technological contributions


from ancient times, the Middle Ages, and modern times.
Materials: Large sheets of paper, markers, pictures of inventions, and research
materials (books or internet access).

Instructions:

1. Ancient Times, Middle Ages, and Modern Times.


2. Research and selects 3–5 key technological advancements from each period.
1. Ancient: Examples like the wheel, aqueducts, or papyrus.
2. Middle Ages: Printing press, windmills, or eyeglasses.
3. Modern: Computers, the internet, or smartphones.
3. Create a timeline, illustrating findings with drawings or printed images and brief descriptions.
4. Assemble the timeline and discuss how each period's innovations influenced future
developments.
