12 - 14. Sc around (30)

Pause here, as we’ll need to snap in the eyes and stuff

the body before we close off the end of the body

Note: To make stitches easier to see, I’m using a light-colored yarn for this tutorial 1
Eyes:
To create the eyes, cut out 2 circles of felt, about 13 mm or 1/2inch width,
then cut a hole in the middle large enough to fit your 6mm safety eyes. Then
insert the stem of the eye into the hole. To find where to put the eyes, fold the
body you’ve created so far so it is flat with the bump in the back on one side
as shown in the picture to the right.

Insert one eye between the 7th and 8th round, about 2 stitches from the edge
of the flattened body. Use the included washer to close the eye into place.
Repeat on the other side, then continue crocheting the body.

Body Cont.
15. [3sc, Dec] x 6 (24) Eye here
16. [2sc, Dec] x 6 (18) Add polyfill or stuffing
17. [Sc, Dec] x 6 (12)
18. [Dec] x 6 (6)

Finish off and trim excess yarn.

Congrats! You’ve made a weird bean.

Note: Don’t push the washer all the way to the base of the eye.
This can cause the felt to bunch up. 2
Beak:
Switch to your gray yarn, or to your
2nd color
1. 4 sc in a circle or magic ring (4)
2. [Inc, sc] x 2 (6)
3. [Inc, 2sc] x 2 (8)
4. [Inc, 3sc] x 2 (10)
5. [Inc, 4sc] x 2 (12)

Finish off, but leave a long thread

Wings (x2):
Switch back to your black yarn,
or to your 1st color

Assembly:
This section will show you how to attach all
of the pieces to complete your crow!

This section assumes you’re familliar with

how to sew different crocheted parts
together. Put away your crochet hook,
You’ll only need your tapestry needle for
this part!

Attach Beak:
Open up beak so that it looks like a cone. Using the extra yarn at the end of the
beak, sew the beak to the body, between rounds 4-8 on the body, between the
eyes. Finish off and trim the excess yarn

Beak here

Now your weird bean looks more like a bird!

5
Assembly Cont:
Attach Tail:
Using the extra yarn at the end of the tail, sew the tail to the body, between
rounds 12 - 15 on the body. The tail should help the body sit on it’s own now,
but it may still be a little front heavy without the feet.

Finish off and trim the excess yarn

Tail here

6
Assembly Cont:
Attach Wings:
Rather than having the wings open like a cone
Wing here
as we have with the beak and tail, the wings
should be pushed flat. Using the extra yarn at
the end of the wing, sew both wings on each
side of the body, between rounds 8 - 13 and
about 1 sc behind the eye.

But don’t finish off just yet!

Feed your needle behind the wing as shown in

the images below. Now, feed your needle
through one side of the wing, then feed your
needle back into the body and pull it closed.
This will keep the wing against the body.

Feeding your yarn just through the back of the wing allows it to look puffed out!

7
Assembly Cont:
Attach Feet:
Finally, attach the feet to the bottom of your crow by sewing them to the
base, between rounds 16 - 17, about 2 sc apart.

Finish off and trim excess yarn.

Feet here

Look at the little feet!
