Absolute Value

The document defines various mathematical concepts including absolute value, plane and space figures, polyhedrons, and their properties such as faces, edges, and vertices. It also explains different types of prisms, pyramids, cylinders, cones, spheres, and nets, as well as concepts of patterns, finite and infinite sequences, and basic algebraic expressions and equations. Key terms such as variable and constant are also introduced.

Absolute Value- represents the distance of the integer from the origin O.

Examples: | -23 | = 23 ; | 8 | = 8 ; |-7| = 7

Plane Figure- 2D shape that looks flat

Space Figure- 3D shape has length, width and height.
Solid figure- formed when putting together a space figure and all points inside it
Polyhedron- space figure that is composed of polygonal region.
Faces- polygonal regions
Edges- are segments formed by the intersection of two faces.
Vertex- the common endpoint.
Prism- polyhedron with at least a pair of parallel faces.
Rectangular Prism- has 3 pairs of parallel rectangular bases.
Triangular prism- has a pair of parallel triangular bases.
Hexagonal prism- has a pair of parallel hexagonal bases.
Pyramid- a polyhedron with a polygonal base and triangular lateral faces with common vertex.
Cylinder- it has two circular bases and curved surface.
Cone- is like a pyramid except that its base is a circular region.
Sphere- is a curved surface without base.
Net- is a two- dimensional shape. It can be folded to form 3D shape of space figure.
Pattern or sequence- is the order or arrangement of objects, shapes, letter or numbers.
Finite- patterns that stop.
Infinite- patterns without end. The three dots or ellipses at the end of the last term shows that there are more
hidden numbers.
Algebraic expression- combination of variables, numbers, and one or more operations.
Variable- letters or symbols
Constant-specific number
Algebraic equation- is a sentence that equates two algebraic expressions.
