Is there anyone absent today? None, teacher.

Very good.

Last meeting, we tackled decimals.

What does the word Decimal come from? The word decimal comes from
the Latin word decimus,
meaning tenth
Very good. The word decimal comes
from the Latin word decimus, meaning
tenth It is from the root word decem,
meaning ten.

Decimal is a fraction written in a special

form where each digit represents a
different power of 10. Decimal Number
is a number that has a decimal point
followed by digit that show a value
smaller.

You can encounter decimal numbers from

the general weighted average in your
grades, price in malls or supermarkets,
body temperature, height and weight, and
distance from one place to another.

Questions:
● What is the decimal form of 5/10? 0.5
● How 0.5 are read as? Five hundredths
● What is the fraction form of ten 10/100
hundredths?

B. Establishing Lesson And now let's talk about Using base- 10
Purpose blocks. Base- 10 blocks can be used in
lessons on whole numbers and decimals.
For whole numbers, cube represents
thousands, flat represents hundreds, rod
represents tens, and unit represent ones.
However, for decimals cube represent
tens, flat represents ones, rod represents
tenths, and unit represents hundredths.

If it is a whole number what does cube, Cube represents thousands,

flat, rod, and unit represent? flat represents hundreds, rod
represents tens, and unit
represent ones

Very good. How about if it is a decimal Cube represents tens, flat

form what does cube, flat, rod, and unit represents ones, rod
represent? represents tenths, and unit
represents hundredths.

Very good class.

In our lesson we are using decimal so the

Cube represents tens, flat represents ones,
rod represents tenths, and unit represents
hundredths.

Cube = tens
Flat = ones
Rod = tenths
Unit = hundredths

For example, how can we make 5/100

using base- 10 blocks?

The decimal value will be used is the unit

because it is hundredths.

How about 1/10?

Very good. We use Rod because it

represents tenths. So the answer would be
C. Developing and Let's have a group activity using base- 10
Deepening blocks.
Understanding (Tasks
and Thought) Direction: Represent the scores of
pupils using base- 10 blocks from the
table given below.

Pupil Score

In fraction In decimal
form form

Cris 7/10 0.7

Catherine 9/10 0.9

Vince 6/10 0.6

● What is the base- 10 blocks of

the score of Cris?

Very good. We used Rod to represent

tenths.

● What is the base- 10 blocks of

the score of Catherine?

Very good. We used Rod to represent

tenths.
● What is the base- 10 blocks of
the score of Vince?

Very good class. We used Rod again to

represent

D. Making Generalizations Let`s answer this.

● How can we connect the lesson

using base 10 blocks to our
everyday lives?

We can connect the lesson on using base

10 blocks to our everyday lives by
applying the concepts of place value and
regrouping to real-world situations, such
as counting money, telling time, and
measuring lengths.

How can we connect the lesson to our We can connect the lesson on

everyday lives by applying the
concepts of place value and
regrouping to real-world
situations, such as counting
money, telling time, and
measuring lengths.

Very good.

IV. EVALUATING LEARNING: FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT AND TEACHER`S REFLECTION

A. Evaluating Learning Direction: Represent the given below by
