Basic Physics Guide
Physics is the branch of science that deals with matter, energy,
motion, and forces. It helps us understand how the universe works, from the smallest particles to the largest galaxies.
1. Motion and Newton's Laws
1. Newton's First Law (Inertia): An object at rest stays at rest, and an object in motion stays in motion unless acted upon by an external force.
2. Newton's Second Law (Force and Acceleration):
Force = Mass × Acceleration (F = ma)
3. Newton's Third Law (Action-Reaction):
For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
2. Energy and Work
1. Kinetic Energy: Energy of motion (KE = 1/2 mv^2). 2. Potential Energy: Stored energy due to position (PE = mgh). 3. Work: When a force moves an object (Work = Force × Distance).
3. Gravity and Free Fall
Gravity is the force that pulls objects toward each other. Acceleration due to gravity on Earth: g = 9.8 m/s^2.
Free fall equation:
Velocity = g × time (v = gt)
4. Electricity and Magnetism
1. Voltage (V): The electric potential difference. 2. Current (I): The flow of electric charge. 3. Resistance (R): Opposition to current (Ohm's Law: V = IR). 4. Magnetism: Moving charges create magnetic fields.
5. Waves and Sound
1. Wave Types: Mechanical (sound) and Electromagnetic (light). 2. Wave Properties: Wavelength, frequency, and amplitude. 3. Sound: Travels as a longitudinal wave through a medium.
