General Policies, Requirements, and Guidelines

General Requirements in this course:

1. Structural Modelling Software (CSI ETABS)

2. Autodesk Revit and/or Autodesk CAD

3. 3rd Party Software and/or plug-ins for 3D rendering

4. Software for Video Rendering and Walkthrough

5. Excel Spreadsheet

6. Team Logo and Tagline

7. Drawing Template

8. Accomplishment Report

9. Course Output Report

Guidelines:

Group Works:

1. Group works will be called “Course Output” and shall be submitted on/or before a specified
deadline.

2. A group shall consist of 4-5 members, which consists of the following: a Project Engineer (Team
Leader), two structural engineers, and two project designers.

3. A group work shall submit an accomplishment report, detailing every work milestone, its unit of
measure and the percentage of work accomplished.

4. An accomplishment report shall have a documentation with formal pattern and explanation of
every significant progress in your output.

5. After a course output is submitted, there will be a presentation of the output in the class.

6. Non-compliance of group work and late submissions will be graded zero (0).

7. Copying of outputs, editing of other outputs, and outsourcing will be graded zero in the first
penalty. If this happens more than once, the group will be banned from submitting the next output and
will be graded zero (0).

8. A report format must be submitted. The format and guideline of the report will be discussed for
every course output.

9. Grading system will be discussed later.


1.1 The Project Background (includes the general idea of your project. Must also include its use, purpose
and reasons why it is needed to be constructed. It must include where the building will be erected and
the initial details of the building (example: lot area, floor area, number of rooms, number of doors, etc.)

1.2 Location Map (must include the vicinity map and site location map).

1.3 Project Objective (Must state the detailed goals why the building needs to be erected (example: To
create a sustainable design of student housing that will perform satisfactorily in its intended lifetime.)

. Orientation: Portrait for discussion, Landscape for Drawings

. Plans shall be drawn in a drawing template. (Dimensions, scaling, and design of your template
will be decided by the group).

. Must be submitted via hard drive/flash drives ONLY (Soft Copy). Only 1 person per section must
submit. A group must have a folder with a folder name indicated as shown below.

. Submit also the following: 3D-rendered Walkthrough Video (1-minute walkthrough),

COURSE OUTPUT 1 GUIDELINE

An engineer wants to design a 2-storey residential building. The lot details shall be as follows:

Lot Area = 600 square meters

Minimum Building Area = 300 square meters

INCLUSIONS:

. 12-14 rental rooms (with bathroom for each room)

. If space is not maximized, provide a balcony for tenants.

. A hallway must be available to provide access to every room.

. A stair must be available.


. Provide a parking space.

. The owner of the building wants the building to have a roof deck for added space for tenants’
use. (The purpose of the roof deck will be decided by the group).

. The owner also wants to have a skylight, but its area shall be no greater than 20 m2.

. Interior wall shall be 100 mm, while exterior walls shall not be greater than 150 mm but not less
than 100 mm. Partition walls are allowed.

. Slab thickness shall conform to the NSCP Code (Initially, design the slab according to structural
codes regarding minimum thickness of slabs).

. Floor to floor heights shall be no more than 5.0 meters but shall not be less than 3 meters.
(Account a 12 inches allowance for ceilings)

. Other parts of the building shall comply with the National Building Code.

SAMPLE ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT

(This will be attached at the end of your course output report. An accomplishment report is required for
every school day/s, excluding the weekends. Include documentations with discussion at the end of each
accomplishment report).
