Input Devices
An input device is a hardware or peripheral device used
to send data to a computer. An input device allows users to communicate and feed instructions and data to computers for processing, display, storage and/or transmission. KEYBOARD Keyboard is the most common and very popular input device which helps to input data to the computer.
It translates numbers, letters,
symbols and control keys into signals that can be interpreted by the PC. MOUSE Mouse is the most popular pointing device. It is a cursor-control device having a small palm size box with a round ball at its base, which senses the movement of the mouse and sends corresponding signals to the CPU when the mouse buttons are pressed. SCANNER A scanner is a peripheral device that converts images, documents, or other physical objects into digital data. Its task is to read information from the surface of an object and transform it into a digital form that a computer can process. TOUCHPAD A touch pad is a device for pointing (controlling input positioning) on a computer display screen. It is an alternative to the mouse. It is originally known as track pads. A touch pad works by sensing the user's finger movement and downward pressure. Output Devices
Output devices are hardware devices that display or
present information to the user or other people. MONITOR The monitor is a visual display device to present output information in the form of text, graphics, or video on the monitor screen.
There are two kinds of monitor: LCD
monitor and the older CRT models PRINTER Printers are output devices that are used to transfer digital information to a physical medium, most often paper. The most popular printers are: inkjet and laser. SPEAKER A speaker is an electroacoustic device that converts an electrical signal (sound) into sound waves (acoustic) that the human ear can hear. Speakers are commonly used in audio equipment, computers, televisions, sound systems and musical instruments. PLOTTER A plotter is a device used to draw or print vector images, technical diagrams, maps, CAD (Computer- Aided Design) drawings and large graphics on various types of materials such as paper, foil or fabrics.
