Key fields of AI application include:

 Weather prediction using AI

 Price forecasts for commodities
 Chatbots
 Computer Vision
 Google's Nowcasting
 Self-driving cars
 Cognitive Computing
Chatbots:
 A chatbot is an AI application that can mimic a real conversation with a user in their
natural language.
 Chatbots allow communication through text or audio on websites, messaging
applications, or smartphones.
 Rule-based chatbots use defined rules to map conversations as a flowchart. They can
only handle questions within their established rules.
 AI-based chatbots use machine learning to understand the context and intent of a
question. These chatbots can generate their own answers using natural language
responses. The more they learn, the better they work.
Natural Language Processing (NLP):
 NLP is an area of AI that uses natural language for interactions between computers
and humans.
 The goal of NLP is to read, decipher, comprehend, and make sense of human
languages in a useful way.
 Applications of NLP include: text recognition, text summarization, information
extraction, speech processing, and sentiment analysis.
 Text recognition is a popular technique that transforms scanned images of text into
an editable format.
 Text summarization shortens long passages of text into manageable pieces of
information.
 Information extraction automatically retrieves specific information from documents.
 Speech processing enables smart devices to interact with users through verbal
language.
 Sentiment analysis uses NLP to determine whether data is positive, negative, or
neutral.
Computer Vision (CV):
 CV is a branch of AI that extracts information from digital images and videos.
 CV enables machines to "see" and perform specific tasks.
 CV is used for: object recognition, optical character recognition, and fingerprint
recognition.
 CV is used in self-driving cars to perceive their surroundings using cameras and other
sensors.
Other AI Applications:
 Google's Nowcasting uses machine learning to predict weather up to six hours in
advance.
 Self-driving cars use computer vision, deep learning, robotics and navigation to
operate with little or no human intervention.
 Price forecasting uses machine learning for commodity trading.
 AI is also used in healthcare to monitor patients, in education to create personalized
learning, and in media to create automated reports.
Characteristics and Types of AI:
 AI systems are autonomous, make independent decisions, and learn from data
patterns.
 AI can adapt, predict, and continuously learn.
 AI is considered a cutting-edge technology with a wide range of applications.
 Data-driven AI systems learn from large datasets and depend on the availability of
well-labeled data.
AI and Society:
 AI will impact society across various sectors, including health, safety, culture,
education, employment, and business.
 AI has the potential to both benefit and negatively impact society.
Challenges Posed by AI:
 Bias in data can lead to biased AI systems.
 Unemployment may result from automation.
 Disparate control over data by tech giants can lead to unfair advantages.
 Privacy is becoming increasingly vulnerable due to AI.
