Foam System Operatiiing Procedure

The document outlines the operational procedures for a foam device used in firefighting, including the steps for filling, debugging, and operating the system. It details the protocols for remote and local control, manual operation, foam tank switching, and the discharge of foam concentrate. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of timely replenishment of foam concentrate and proper rinsing of the system after use.

expansion in the foam tank).

5.3 During use, the consumed foam concentrate shall be replenished in time. After
filling, close the Foam Liquid Adding Ball Valve, open the Reflux Ball Valve.

5.4 After connecting the fire water to the foam device and closing the electric
butterfly valve at the outlet of the mixed liquid, open the foam liquid outlet ball valve.
The foam device is in a ready state.

6. On Site Debugging

Debugging shall be conducted according to the actual use status, referring to

procedures 7.1, 7.2, and 7.7, simulate the failure of the work water motor unit (close
the gauge valve of the pressure transmitter at the outlet of the foam pump, connect
a section of hose at the gauge valve discharge port, slowly open the gauge valve
discharge port, and discharge the residual foam liquid into the skid for drainage.
After the pressure drops, the transmitter detects insufficient pressure, and the
discharge will not continue after the failure signal occurs).

7. Operation

7.1 Check the valve status after installation

All isolation valves (gauge valves) at the front end of pressure gauges, liquid level
gauges, and pressure transmitters are open.
Check the three-way ball valve (1) of each foam liquid inlet in Figure 9 and Figure 10.
The handle is in "Proportioning" of the label; Foam pump outlet three-way ball valve
(2), handle label in "Proportioning"
Note: RJ300 double pumps work together, and the valves on both pumps need to be
operated together.
The electric butterfly valve is closed
After the fire water is connected to the foam device and the electric butterfly valve at
the outlet of the mixture is closed, open the Foam Liquid Outlet Ball Valve. The foam

device is in the ready state.

7.2 Remote control: After confirming the fire according to the information of the fire
alarm system, manually open the start button of the foam device in the fire control
room. After the device control system receives the command, the main mixed liquid
outlet valve (normally closed), and when the pressure detected by the pressure
transmitter at the outlet of the main foam pump does not reach the set value or the
electric valve fails to open, the device system will alarm, At the same time, the main
system stops, and the main mixing outlet valve is closed and automatically switches
to the standby system. When any control equipment in the main system of the
device malfunctions, an alarm will be triggered and the backup system will be
started.

7.3 Local control: Switch the local/remote button on the control cabinet to "local",
and operate the "one-click start" button on the control cabinet to put the system
direct start device into operation. The operation of the device is automatically
controlled by the control cabinet program. Control cabinet program control flow is
the same as 7.2. If the startup fails, it can be manually opened by mechanical means.

7.4 Manual operation

Switch the electric valve to the manual operation mode, turn the handle, and open
the main mixture outlet valve (normally closed). If the pressure detected by the
outlet pressure transmitter of the main foam pump does not reach the set value, the
device system will give an alarm. Close the main mixed liquid outlet valve and open
the mixed liquid outlet valve of the standby system (normally closed) to switch to the
standby system.
After the fire extinguishing is completed, press the reset button on the control
cabinet, and the mixing liquid valves of the main and backup systems will return to
the closed state.

7.5 Foam tank switching

The system is equipped with two main and standby foam atmospheric pressure tanks.
When working, the main foam tank's Foam Liquid Outlet Ball Valve and Reflux Ball

18
Valve are opened, and the standby foam tank's Foam Liquid Outlet Ball Valve and
Reflux Ball Valve are closed. When the remaining amount of foam liquid in the main
foam tank is less than 10%, switch to the standby foam tank. First open the spare
foam tank's Foam Liquid Outlet Ball Valve, then close the main foam tank's Foam
Liquid Outlet Ball Valve Reflux Ball Valve. Then turn on the Reflux Ball Valve of the
spare foam tank.
If the fire is not controlled, the foam system needs to continue to work, and the foam
tank should be filled with foam liquid.
Refer to 5.2 for the filling process

7.6 Discharge of Foam Concentrate

When the foam concentrate reaches the expiry date, the foam concentrate should be
replaced in time.
When replacing foam concentrate, the Foam Liquid Outlet Ball Valve, Reflux Ball
Valve and Foam Liquid Adding Ball Valve of the foam tank should be closed, the Tank
Drain Outlet should be connected to the designated position (the waste liquid of
foam concentrate should be treated separately, and cannot be discharged directly),
and the Tank Drain Ball Valve should be opened for discharge.
After the discharge is complete, follow the steps in 5.2 to refill it.

7.7 Rinse
When the system is finished, flush the foam pump and mixed liquid pipeline.
First close Foam Liquid Outlet ball valve, Reflux Ball Valve, switch Foam pump inlet
three-way ball valve to "Flushing", Open the Flush ball valve, switch the
corresponding electric valve behind the water-motor to manual mode, turn the
handle, and make the butterfly valve open to 30~45°, so that the fire water passes
through the water-motor and drives the foam pump to work.
After 2 to 3 minutes, close the electric butterfly valve and switch back to the remote
control mode. Close the Flush ball valve and switch the Foam pump inlet three-way
ball valve to "Proposition". Open the discharge valve on the Foam Liquid Import line
and the discharge valve on the mixed liquid pipeline inside the pry bar, and close it
