Schedule for Day I:
2 Round-I 10:00-11:15
3 Round-II 11:30-12:45
7 Round-IV 3:00-4:15
Events on day-II
The second Day of the SXC Science Fest -2023 will only consist of collaborative
common programs like…
The researchers will have to pay a small price to obtain temporary access to
the research if they end up landing on the topic that someone else has already
conducted research on. The players can also choose to negotiate for rights over
the research papers and buy the patent from someone else for a set amount of
price. In addition to this, to make the game more interesting, a few events are
added. Among one of these events, if a player lands on a few special squares
on the boards, they will trigger the events, with the most prominent being ‘test
of character’ and ‘lawsuit’. If a player lands on the ‘test of character’, they
will need to answer a few questions which will end up burning them out.
Based on the number of questions that someone gets wrong, the amount of
turns that would be skipped is increased (not linearly). Similarly, ‘lawsuit’ is a
legal space where the work of the player will be questioned and possibly a
lawsuit will be filed against them. In order to get out of the lawsuit, they will
need to either pay a certain amount of credits or spend some time fighting the
lawsuit alongside answering questions to prove their innocence in both cases.
The game concludes when either all players except one don’t have any credits
or a set number of rounds pass. The winner is decided based on the highest
number of credits at the end of the game.
Sciencopoly aims to improve upon the planning and foresight skills of the
competitors. In addition to foresight skills, Sciencopoly also helps in
improving the negotiation skills among the members and deepens the bond
between them. From remembering the behaviour of the members, the memory
and recalling skills of the competitors increase. For choosing when to invest
money in their research paper or to save their money for renting other research
papers, the competitors need to have patience, and from forcing themselves to
have patience in order to perform better in the game, it is inevitable that they
will eventually develop the virtues of patience. Sciencopoly wishes to be a
game that the participants of Science Fest will be able to take part in as a way
to have fun and let their minds off from the frivolous trials and tribulations of
study and relax their minds and bodies for a while, simultaneously increasing
the stakes and value of Escape Room (Semi-Final Round).
In this concise round, every selected team will get a designated room for the
semi-final Round which will be filled with hidden puzzles. Each team's goal is to
locate the key, which is concealed in someplace in the allocated room. To do this, the
group members have to work together to solve several science-related puzzles in
prelocated rooms. The puzzles or riddles will be spread all around the room which has
to be detected and solved, the puzzles will be included from all scientific sectors that
will test the overall concept and quick brain-straining ability of contestants.
The puzzles may include conceptual scientific questions, some charts, diagrams,
numerical and daily life-related problems expressed scientifically. Each puzzle will
present a completely different level of increasing difficulty which will need an
extraordinary conceptual idea to crack. To successfully open their room, the teams
will need to show off their analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and
collaboration. The highly anticipated Final Round will only be accessible to the top X
teams that can successfully escape from their respective rooms in the shortest run of
time. This unique escape game format adds an element of excitement and suspense to
the Semi-Final Round, offering an engaging and entertaining experience for both the
participants and the spectators.
3. Treasure Hunt
The Treasure Hunt is the centrepiece of the Fest. The finalists from the Escape room
will be eligible to compete in the Treasure Hunt. Each team will be allocated into a
specific room on the highest floor from which they will need to start solving a series
of puzzles whilst obtaining a clue which leads them to another puzzle. Upon solving a
set number of puzzles, the participants will obtain a major clue that enables them to
descend to the next floor. The puzzles and clues are intricately connected, requiring
participants to meticulously solve the puzzles in order to obtain the clues. After they
manage to crack the code, they will obtain a revelation that will give them all the
information that they need to obtain in order to pass onto the next stage. Through
tedious repetition of puzzle solving and clue analysis, the teams will eventually
unravel the mysteries of the treasure hunt and they will obtain a series of clues that
will give them insights into navigating the labyrinth after going through a series of
puzzles which leads them to the ground floor.
Once the teams reach the ground floor, they are required to scour the floor in hopes of
salvaging the treasure. The treasure is hidden in the ground floor in such a manner
that the participants have to scrutinise the details of the entire treasure hunt. Once they
do so, after overcoming the challenge, they will find the treasure. The thrill of the
hunt places its hope on the enjoyment of this event. The teams will be placed together
with a host who will report the time taken by the participants to complete the hunt.
The event's champion will be decided based on the team that finds the treasure in the
shortest time.
