FPPE Ques

The document presents two questions related to the processing of Alaska North Slope crude oil with specific API and sulfur content. The first question involves calculating the temperature range and mid volume percentage for various fractions at a refinery capacity of 10,000 barrels per day. The second question requires plotting a TBP curve for three adjacent cuts with given boiling ranges and calculating various metrics for a distillation capacity of 33MMTPA.

Question 01:

Alaska North Slope crude having 26.4 API and sulfur content of 0.99 wt% is processed in the refinery. Gases
and light naphtha is taken as overhead (8 vol%) and 3 side cuts are drawn (Heavy Naphtha (10 vol%), Kerosene
(17 vol%) and Gas oil (26 vol%). For a capacity of 10,000 Barrel per day calculate the temperature range of the
fraction and also its mid volume percentage.

Question No: 02

For Alaska North Slope crude (figure 1), API: 26.4; sulfur, 0.99 wt%, having three adjacent cuts X, Y & Z
having following boiling range as 220 - 460 °F, 400 - 585 °F and 560 - 680 °F respectively. Plot a TBP curve
of these adjacent cuts along with TBP cut point on graph paper. For a distillation capacity of 33MMTPA,
calculate the range, BPSD, lb/hr and yield (in MMTPA) of these fractions.
