Elanide

Notes
Elanide is a simple top-down raglan worked in fingering weight. It can be knitted in a
highly customizable stripe pattern with slipped stitches transitions. With its mock turtle
neck, hem and cuffs in twisted ribbing, it's a basic staple garment. It can be adjusted to any
desired body and sleeve length as well as made with a freeing range of ease. Use it as a
canvas to play with colours or different textured yarns !

Yarn :
You will need :
1000 (1095 / 1200 / 1300 / 1400), (1550 / 1650 / 1800 / 1900) meters
1095 (1200 / 1315 / 1425 / 1530), (1695 / 1805 / 1970 / 2080) yards
total of fingering weight yarn.

For regular stripes, you can divide this amount by the number of colours you wish to use.

To make the sample's stripe sequence, you will need :


CA (marled yarn used in between every other colour) : 40% of total
400 (430 / 480 / 520 / 560), (620 / 660 / 720 / 760) meters
435 (470 / 525 / 570 / 615), (680 / 720 / 790 / 830) yards

CB (pink used for cuffs) : 21% of total


210 (240 / 250 / 275 / 295), (325 / 350 / 380 / 400) meters
230 (265 / 275 / 300 / 325), (355 / 385 / 415 / 440) yards

CC (mint used for collar) : 20% of total


200 (215 / 240 / 260 / 280), (310 / 330 / 360 / 380) meters
220 (235 / 265 / 285 / 305), (340 / 360 / 395 / 415) yards

CD (lilac used for hem) : 19% of total


190 (210 / 230/ 245 / 265), (295 / 310 / 340 / 360) meters

The sample is knit with Artemis Yarns Selene Undyed (CA), Soft Sock in Lullaby (CB),
Zephyr (CC) and Lavender Field (CD) ; 400 m – 437 yds / 100 g.

Needles :
Main Fabric : 3.25 mm (US 3) circular needles with appropriate length to knit in the
round.
Ribbing : 2.75 mm (US 2) circular needles with appropriate length to knit in the round.
or size required to get gauge

Gauge :
25 sts x 33 rnds per 10 cm – 4" with larger needles in stockinette after blocking

Notions :
Stitch markers, tapestry needle and scissors
Scrap yarn to place sts on hold
Row counter recommended

Techniques used :
Top down raglan sweater worked in the round
Back neck worked flat with knitted on increases for neck shaping
Raglan shaping with simple make one increases
Optional customizable stripe sequence with a slipped stitch round at the colour change
Straight body and straight sleeves slightly gathered before the cuffs
Twisted ribbing mock turtle neck, hem and cuffs

Sizes :
1 (2 / 3 / 4 / 5), (6 / 7 / 8 / 9)
All measurements are those of the finished sweater.

Choose a size with 0 to 15 cm – 0 to 6" positive ease at bust.


Shown in size 2 on a 90 cm – 35 ½" bust.

Abbreviations :
– CO : cast-on
– st(s) : stitch(es) / rnd(s) : round(s)
– BOR : beginning of round
– RS : right side / WS : wrong side
– m : marker / pm : place marker / sm : slip marker / rm : remove marker
– inc : increase / dec : decrease
– k : knit stitch / p : purl stitch
– ktbl : knit the st through its back loop
– sl : slip the st purlwise with yarn in back
– m1L : make 1 left, lift the bar between the stitches onto the left needle from front to

Stripe sequence :
The stripe sequence start after having joined in the round. You will place a marker for the
colour change in the center back.
To work in stripes like the sample, create stripes of 3.5 cm – 1 ¼" each (about 10 rnds).

On the first rnd of a new colour, work as follows :


*k1, sl1* to end
Don't worry if this 2 sts repeat doesn't fall quite right on increasing raglan rnds : you may
need to k1, then increase in the new colour too. Any irregularity will not be visible on the
overall sweater.

Work the collar, hem and cuffs in a different colour than the stripe right next to it.

Depending on the number of colours you alternate, you may cut the unused colours or
carry them along the colour change line by loosely twisting the strands together every 4
rnds.
