BAUHAUS
Throughout the twentieth century the Bauhaus movement
encompassed a wide array of mediums, materials and
disciplines.

Ranging from paintings and graphics to architecture and


interiors, this art dominated many outlets of experimental
European art throughout the 1920s and 1930s.

Bauhaus literally translated to ‘construction house’ is


renowned for both its unique aesthetic that inventively
combines the fine arts with arts and crafts as well as its
enduring influence on modern ad contemporary art.

Founded by Walter Gropius.


SCANDINAVIAN MOVEMENT

THIS IS A DESIGN MOVEMENT


CHARACTERIZED BY SIMPLICITY,
MINIMALISM AND FUNCTIONALITY TAT
EMERGED IN THE EARLY 20TH CENTURY AND
FLOURISHED IN THE 1950 THROUGH THE
NORDIC COUNTRIES.
THESE DESIGNS ARE KNOW ESPECIALLY FOR
HOUSEHOLD GOODS INCLUDING FURNITURE,
TEXTILES, CERAMICS, LAMP AND GLASS
HOWEVER THEY HAVE BEEN EXTENDED TO
MINIMALISM MOVEMENTS
Minimalism is a modern art
movement that emerged in the
mid 20th century.
It emphasizes simplicity,
essential forms, and the
elimination of excess.
Minimalist art focuses on
primary elements, leaving out
unnecessary features and
often uses geometric shapes,
monochromatic, palettes and
precise compositions.
MODERNISM

Modernism was an
early 20th century
movement in literature,
visual arts and music
that emphasized
experimentation,
abstraction and
subjective experience.
It was characterized by
a break with the past
and a search for new of
expression.

POST MODERNISM
This is an artistic movement that emerged
in the mid 20th century as a reaction
against modernism. It rejected idealism
and defied categorization, encompassing
various styles such as pop art.

Post modernism challenged the


dominance of modernism in architecture
and the arts.
