Kiran: Look! There’s a baby kangaroo over there.
Adarsh: That’s not a baby kangaroo. It’s a doe. A female
kangaroo is called a doe. The baby is tucked in the pouch in
her belly. Baby kangaroos are called joeys. Kangaroos also
come from Australia.
Kiran: Did you see a lion?
Tarun: Yes, I did. I saw a lioness with her three cubs. They are

Listening Text
C. Amritha: Hi Megh! Did you get the new diary? And did you see the school
timetable?
Megh: Hi Amritha! Yes, I did. We have quite a lot of English, Maths and Tamil
classes.
Amritha: Yes, we do. But I’m looking forward to Fridays when we have two English
classes, sports and arts, along with a music class.
Megh: Which sport are you going to play?
Amritha: Gymnastics. I want to learn gymnastics.
Megh: That sounds interesting. But I don’t like sports much. I enjoy music
and craft classes. I think we’re going to learn to play the piano and I’m
looking forward to that.
Amritha: Piano? That’s wonderful. I want to learn playing it as well.
Megh: I think I’m going to enjoy my Sunday evenings—on Mondays we won’t
have sports but we will have music and art classes. We’re also going to
begin the day with English and that’s my favourite subject.
Amritha: Good to know you like English. I love doing Maths though I read a lot of
English stories at home.
