Understanding child growth and development is a fundamental key

for effective teaching. According to me one of the impressive and
impactful topics is brain development. Getting insights how a brain
development process takes place in a child was very surprising and
education for me to understand the early childhood education.
Recognizing and keeping in consideration each child social,
emotional, cognitive mental wellbeing it has influenced me how I
keep each child engaged daily.

Although I could find that I am partially practicing some of the

aspects of PIAGET’S cognitive development theory and LEV
VYGOTSKY approach. However, it’s not enough there is lot to know
and grow about the various applicational aspects found in these
theories which can be applied practically. It came to the surface that
the area where I need to focus more is intentionally aligning rightly
developmental activities with the children’s existing cognitive and
socio economical condition and its development for instance I had
been providing and implementing structural learning but if I bring in
more hands-on elaborative activities it can increase the logical and
creative skills. Further on as understanding and concept of LEV
VYGOTSKY zone of proximal development identified my need to
improve upon my scaffolding technique whereby, I can offer tailored
support initially till the children can do it themself after wards without
support. It was observed by me the importance of brain development
in early childhood stresses out the shaping all the neural connections
which are very important for child development so the knowledge and
information I got I can create a positive reinforcement, enriching,
sensory rich environment that supports cognitive and emotional
growth. I want to incorporate more activities such as memory games,
sequencing tasks, sensory tables, tabletop activities some problem-
solving puzzles. By adapting these changes in my classroom, I believe
I can significantly benefit my students and incorporating scaffolding
technique which will help my students progress at their own pace and
they will develop confidence. Encouraging them and developing
creativity is essential for lifelong learning. A key theory that vibrates
with me is Piaget’s cognitive development theory. It gives me better
understanding what children’s think and learn at different stages. I
have an experience wherein I am teaching the age group 2-3years and
giving them more on hands on learning experiences which I feel
benefits them and trust me that they grasp it more quickly and I am
really learning how these theories are helping me in day-to-day life.

One of the valuable lessons which I have learned from this module is
that how all domains are interconnected whether its cognitive, social,
physical, emotional and recognized their holistic approach and I
wanted to integrate more movement-based activities into my lesson
which will support cognitive and motor-based skills. I feel that this
change can be beneficial for kinetics learners who will grow when
given opportunities to engage physically.
Overall, this module has deepened my understanding of how theory
can be bought into practice. I can really bring meaningful changes to
my classroom through continued professional development and self-
reflection. I am dedicated and committed to bring positive changes
engaging learning environment which will impact and create a safe
and nurturing environment for my children.
