BASIC PARTS OF A COMPUTER

These include:
1. Keyboard -A keyboard is a device that looks like a
typewriter that is used to enter (input) data into the computer. 2. Mouse - This is a pointing device that enable the user to enter commands in a computer. To input a command, the user moves the mouse which also moves the pointer on the screen. The pointer is then clicked on icons and controls to issue commands. 3. Microphone – A microphone, colloquially named mic is a device that converts sound into electrical signals. 4. Speakers – Speakers are a popular output devices used with computers systems. Theyreceive audio input from the computer sound card and produce audio output in the form of sound waves. Speakers usually come in pairs, which allows them to produce stereo sound from two separate audio channels. 5. Monitor - The monitor is also called the screen or Visual Display Unit (VDU). This device enables the user to see what is happening in the system unit. 6. System unit – The system unit, also known as a “tower” or “Chassis,” is the main part of a desktop computer. It houses the Motherboard, CPU, RAM and other components. The term “system unit” is often used to differentiate between the computer and peripheral devices as monitor, keyboard and mouse.
