Course Description and Outcomes:

The theory and practices of Human-Computer Interfaces (HCI) from information systems angle are
discussed. Various industry and web HCIs designs will be evaluated from the user-centered
perspective utilizing information systems. Rapid prototyping and comparative evaluation of design are
essential parts of this course. In addition, users’ expectation of interface design, interaction and
usability components and user-centered HCI evaluation and development will be covered.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will have reliably demonstrated the ability to:

1. Explain context of HCI and different measures for evaluation.


2. Apply the principles of good design for people from the perspective of age and disabilities.
3. Analyze techniques for user centered design for a medium sized software.
4. Evaluate the usability of a medium size software user interface.

Teachers are recommended to take at least 5 quizzes in a semester. A quiz can be from 2-10 mins long
and should be solved on half of A4 size paper or a full page. Students should be serious and ethical
about attempting the quiz. Any student who fails to follow the quiz instructions provided during the

Assignments
Teachers are recommended to give at least 5 assignments during a semester. The assignment can be on

plagiarized assignment should result in 0 marks and repetition should be reported to HOSA causing the
student be given the grade F in the subject or the program.

Attendance can be graded according to the following criteria (Recommendations):

awarded for up to 3 absence. Students should not miss more

GOVERNING RULES
 Students are advised to go through the rules and regulations governing their class attendance,
display of college ID card, use of mobile phones, eating, smoking, roaming, general behavior
etc. on the campus. Any violation thereof is punishable under the relevant rules.
