1. General Information
• Business Goals: What is the primary purpose of the website? (e.g., lead generation,
e-commerce, brand awareness, information sharing, etc.)
• Target Audience: Who will be visiting the site? (e.g., age group, location, interests,
professional background)
• Competitors: Who are the client's main competitors, and what do they like/dislike
about their websites?
• Website Objectives: Specific goals for the site (e.g., increase sales, provide a
portfolio, offer support, etc.).
• Design Style: Any design preferences or examples of websites the client likes or
dislikes (e.g., modern, minimalist, corporate, playful, etc.).
• Branding Guidelines: Logo, color schemes, fonts, and any other brand identity
elements.
• Inspirational Websites: Links to websites the client admires for layout, design, or
functionality.
• User Experience: Desired user journey and flow through the website (e.g., how
should a user move through the site? What is the most important call to action?).
• Visual Content: Will the client provide images and videos, or will you need to
source them? Are there any specific image styles or formats needed?
• Fonts & Typography: Any specific fonts or typography preferences that should be
followed?
3. Functional Requirements
• Site Structure: A rough idea of how the website should be organized (e.g., pages,
sections, navigation).
• Content Management System (CMS): Does the client want a CMS for easy content
updates? (e.g., WordPress, Joomla, Wix, custom CMS, etc.).

o Membership/login systems
• SEO Requirements: Does the client have specific SEO goals or a target list of
keywords? Any SEO best practices to follow?
• Third-Party Integrations: Does the site need to integrate with any third-party tools

• Content Availability: Will the client provide the content (text, images, videos), or do
you need to create it? (Content creation can include copywriting, image sourcing,
etc.)
• Tone of Voice: What tone should the content convey? (e.g., professional, friendly,
humorous, authoritative)
• Content Updates: How often will content need to be updated, and who will be
responsible for maintaining it?
5. Technical Requirements
• Domain and Hosting: Does the client already have a domain and hosting? If not,
should you help them set it up?
• Mobile Responsiveness: The site must be fully responsive across all devices
(desktop, tablet, and mobile).
• Analytics & Tracking: Does the client want to track site visitors using tools like
Google Analytics, heatmaps, or conversion tracking?
• Backup and Maintenance: Should the website include backup systems? Will
ongoing website maintenance be needed?
• Privacy Policy & Terms of Service: Any legal disclaimers, terms and conditions, or
privacy policy requirements.
• GDPR Compliance: If the site will collect user data, does it need to be
GDPR-compliant? This includes user consent forms, cookie banners, etc.
• Copyrighted Material: Ensure that the client has rights to any content or materials
(e.g., images, music, text) used on the site.
• Budget: How much is the client willing to spend on the website development? This
will help define the scope of work.
• Phases of Development: Will the project be rolled out in stages (e.g., Phase 1:
Design, Phase 2: Development, Phase 3: Testing, etc.)?
• Post-launch Support: Does the client need ongoing support after launch for
maintenance, updates, or troubleshooting?
• Training: Will the client need training on how to manage the website (e.g., updating
content, managing products)?

• Hosting Requirements: Does the client have any preferences for hosting providers
or should you recommend one?
