Introduction to Computers
A computer is an electronic machine that helps us perform various tasks like calculations, storing
data, playing games, and communication. It works by taking input, processing it, and giving output.
Computers are widely used in schools, offices, hospitals, and even homes.

Basic Parts of a Computer


A computer has different parts that work together:

1. Monitor: It looks like a TV screen and shows the output. It displays text, images, and videos.
2. CPU (Central Processing Unit): Known as the brain of the computer, it processes all the
information and performs tasks.
3. Keyboard: A device with keys used for typing letters, numbers, and symbols.
4. Mouse: A small device used to move the cursor and select items on the screen.
5. Speakers: Used to listen to music and other sounds.
6. Printer: Prints documents or images on paper.

Types of Computers
Computers come in different shapes and sizes:

1. Supercomputers: Very powerful computers used for scientific research and weather
forecasting.
2. Desktop Computers: Large computers used in offices and homes.
3. Laptops: Portable computers that can be carried anywhere.
4. Tablets & Smartphones: Small touchscreen devices that work like mini computers.

Hardware & Software


A computer is made of two main components:

 Hardware: The physical parts of a computer (Monitor, CPU, Keyboard, Mouse).


 Software: The programs and applications that help the computer work (MS Word, Paint,
Games).
Operating System
An Operating System (OS) is software that controls the working of a computer. Examples include:

 Windows – Most commonly used OS.


 MacOS – Used in Apple computers.
 Linux – Used in some professional environments.
 Android & iOS – Used in mobile devices.

Uses of Computers
Computers are useful in many fields:

1. Education: Used in schools for learning and research.


2. Communication: Sending emails, chatting, and video calling.
3. Entertainment: Playing games, watching movies, and listening to music.
4. Banking: Managing accounts, online transactions.
5. Shopping: Buying products online.

Internet & Online Safety


The internet connects computers worldwide. It is used for searching information, watching videos,
and chatting with friends. However, it is important to stay safe online.

Internet Safety Tips:

 Never share personal information.


 Use strong passwords.
 Avoid talking to strangers online.
 Do not download unknown files.

Basic Coding & Artificial Intelligence


What is Coding?

Coding is the language used to create computer programs. Beginners can start with Scratch or
Blockly, which use simple blocks to create programs.

What is AI (Artificial Intelligence)?

AI is when computers think and learn like humans. Examples: Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant.
