1. What are Polar Ice caps?
Ans- Areas around the poles are always frozen. These are known as polar ice caps.

2. Where do most people of the northern frigid zone live?


Ans- Most people of the northern frigid zone live in parts of Asia, Europe, North America and the Arctic
area.

3. What kind of climate does the equatorial region experience?


Ans- The equatorial region has a hot and humid climate. It has no seasons.

4. Name the animals found in the temperate zone.


Ans- The animals found in the temperate zone are giant panda, meat eating animals, bison, grizzly bear,
kangaroos, koala bears, wallabies, llamas and anteaters.

5. List the places where tropical grasslands are found in the torrid zone.
Ans-Tropical grasslands in the torrid zone are found in parts of Africa, South America and Australia.

6. Discuss the location of the temperate zone.


Ans-The temperate zone lies between the torrid and frigid zones in both the hemispheres, i.e., between the
Tropic of Cancer and the Arctic Circle in the Northern Hemisphere and the Tropic of Capricorn and the
Antarctic Circle in the Southern Hemisphere.

1. Describe the lifestyle of the people living in the torrid zone.


Ans- Very few people live in equatorial region of the torrid zone because it is very hot and humid. They
are mostly tribals. In the tropical regions, people are farmers and workers who works in towns and cities.
The hot deserts are very sparsely populated. In the tropical grasslands, people who move from place to
place.

2. Describe the climate of all the regions of the torrid zone.


Ans-The torrid zone is divided into 4 regions-
a. The Equatorial region is hot and humid and has no seasons.
b. Tropical region has hot summers. It gets rain in monsoon season and has cool winter.
c. The hot deserts are very hot. They are very dry with nearly no rainfall.
d. Tropical Grasslands- Some parts of tropical grasslands are very humid. Rainfall decreases as
one moves away from the equator. Summers are hot but very rainy. Winters are cool and dry.

3. Describe the vegetation found in the temperate zone.

4. Why is the Earth divided into heat zones based on the intensity of sunlight?
Ans-The Earth is divided into heat zones because the Sun’s rays hit different parts of the earth with
varying intensity. This creates zones like the hot equator and cooler poles, influencing climate and weather
