Advanced Spreadsheet

Skills
MS EXCEL
MS EXCEL

 MS Excel provides an automated way of

displaying any statistical data.
 It can be used to automatically compute
for several factors that are not easy to
notice especially when face a large data.
 Includes several arithmetic and basic
functions that help you compute faster.
Accounting Number Format- A number format that is sued
for accounting

Orientation- the angle at which a text is displayed

Count- a function used to count the cells
with content in a range

Sum- a function used to compute for the

summation of the number of a range

Average- a function used to compute for the

average of the number of range
 COUNTIF- a function used to count the cells with
a specified content within a range.
=COUNTIF(range, criteria)

 AVERAGEIF- a function used to compute for the

AVERAGE of the number of a range if a certain
condition is met.
AVERAGEIF(range, criteria,average range)

 SUMIF- a function used to compute for the

summation of a range if a certain condition is
met.
 SUMIF(range, criteria, sumrange)
Range- the range of cells where you want to
look for the criteria/or where the counting
take place.
Criteria- a value or label that determines if a
cell is part of the range to be
averaged/counted.
Average Range- the actual range of cells that
will be averaged, if omitted, the range will
be used instead.
Estimating the Product Cost using MS
Excel
 Let assume that we are going to sell milk tea with the following information:
 We will use Excel to find out if our estimated sale price is reasonable considering
the actual price of ingredients
A B C

 Note: Values with PHP or Philippine peso sign use the

Accounting Number format. It’s default uses the dollar
symbol ($). To change this, click the dropdown arrow at the
currency button then select More Accounting Formats, then
change the symbols PHP.
Use the SUM formula to get the summation of the values
from c4 to c7. The sum formula is = SUM (C4:C7).
Check if your estimated price will earn us profit. Type your
estimated price then apply arithmetic formula.
 The result is PHP 2.20. Our estimated price is not
profitable. Let us make an adjustment. Include the
information below and deduct the total from the New Sale
price:
The result is PHP 7.80. this is definitely profitable at this
price. Howeever, this does not guarantee our product
success.
Analyzing Data using MS Excel

 It is now time for you to collect data from your

target market. For your group’s product, come up
with several questions that will help you determine
how your sample from your target market would
perceive your product. Your target market for this
activity is the people in your school (teachers,
students, personnel).
Before you do the actual product testing, you have to produce a sample product. Produce sample for
15-20 people.

Start your product testing by letting people taste/test your product. Afterwards, gather the data and
place them in Microsoft Excel. A sample of this spreadsheet is given.
To change the orientation of a text, press CTRL+1. To open
the Format Cells dialog box> Alignment Tab> under
Orientation, specify the degrees you want.

 Simple Average Formula

 The syntax:
 =AVERAGE (cells involved)
 Example:
 =AVERAGE(F5:19)
 COUNTIF Function
 =COUNTIF function will allow to count the
number of cells that contains something.
 COUNTIF Function Syntax:
 =COUNTIF(range,criteria)
 Range – the cells where the counting will
take place.
 Criteria – the label or value that
determines if it is to be counted.
 Example:
 =COUNTIF(J5:J19,”Yes”)
 AVERAGEIF Function
 AVERAGEIF Syntax:
 =AVERAGEIF(range, criteria, average range)
 Range – the range of cells where you want to look
for the criteria
 Criteria – a value or label that determines if a cell is
part of the range to be averaged.
 Average Range (optional) – the actual range cells
that will be averaged, if omitted, the range will be
used instead.

With this we can say that the teachers rated the

“Quality” product higher than the students.
