a) What is meant by normalization of wave function.
b) Write the equations for Fermi-Dirac distribution function and Kronig-Penney model.
c) Mention the differences between LED and P-N junction diode.
d) List out any two applications of photodiodes
e) Define the terms piezoelectricity and ferroelectricity.
f) Identify the materials used in Li-ion batteries.
g) State the term nanoscale.
h) Mention the parameters that effect the properties of nanomaterials.
i) Explain the need for population inversion and metastable state for the production of laser
j) Explain the principle involved in the optical fiber.

b) What is Transistor? Explain the working for a common Base NPN transistor with a suitable
circuit diagram. [5M]
