1. If each element of a group be its own inverse then prove that the group
is abelian.

2. If G be a group of order 91 then show that it cannot have two subgroups


of order 13.

3. Give an example of a group of infinite order whose every elements of

4. Let (G, ◦) be a group and a, b ∈ G. Prove that (a◦b◦a−1 )n = a◦bn ◦a−1


for all integers n.

5. If (G, ◦) be a finite group with identity e then prove that there exists
a positive integer m such that am = e holds for all a ∈ G.

6. In a group G, if a is the only element of order n for some n ∈ N then


prove that a ∈ Z(G).

7. If b be an element of order 20 in a group then find the order of elements


b6 and b8 .

8. Let G be an abelian group. Prove that the set of all elements of finite
order in G forms a subgroup of G.

9. If G be a cyclic group of prime order p then prove that every non-


identity element of G is a generator of the group.

10. If G is a cyclic group of order 30 generated by a then find the order of


the subgroup generated by a18 .

11. If a cyclic group G has only one generator then prove that either o(G) =
