Past Continuous — bu o‘tgan zamonda davom etayotgan yoki bir vaqtning o‘zida sodir bo‘lgan

harakat yoki voqealarni ifodalash uchun ishlatiladigan grammatik zamon.

Past Continuous tuzilishi:

Was/Were + verb-ing (verbning 1-shakli + -ing)

 Was (I, He, She, It) + verb + -ing


 Were (You, We, They) + verb + -ing

1. Affirmative (ijobiy gap):

 I + was + verb-ing
 You/We/They + were + verb-ing
 He/She/It + was + verb-ing

Misollar:

o I was watching TV at 7 PM yesterday. (Men kecha soat 7 da televizor


ko‘rayotgandim.)
o They were playing football when it started to rain. (Ular yomg‘ir yog‘a
boshlaganda futbol o‘ynayotgan edilar.)

2. Negative (manfiy gap):

 I + was not (wasn't) + verb-ing


 You/We/They + were not (weren't) + verb-ing
 He/She/It + was not (wasn't) + verb-ing

Misollar:

o I wasn't watching TV at 7 PM yesterday. (Men kecha soat 7 da televizor


ko‘rayotganim yo‘q edi.)
o They weren't playing football when it started to rain. (Ular yomg‘ir yog‘a
boshlaganda futbol o‘ynayotganlari yo‘q edi.)

3. Interrogative (so‘roq gap):

 Was + I + verb-ing?
 Were + you/we/they + verb-ing?
 Was + he/she/it + verb-ing?

Misollar:

o Was I watching TV at 7 PM yesterday? (Men kecha soat 7 da televizor


ko‘rayotgan edimmi?)
o Were they playing football when it started to rain? (Ular yomg‘ir yog‘a
boshlaganda futbol o‘ynayotgan edilar?)

Past Continuous ishlatilish holatlari:

1. O‘tgan vaqtda davom etayotgan harakat:


o Past Continuous o‘tgan zamonda davom etayotgan, yakunlanmagan harakatlarni
ifodalashda ishlatiladi. Bu harakat biror ma'lum vaqt davomida sodir bo‘lgan.
o Misol: I was reading a book when you called. (Sen qo‘ng‘iroq qilganingda men
kitob o‘qiyotgandim.)
2. O‘tgan vaqtda sodir bo‘lgan ikki harakatning bir vaqtning o‘zida yuz berishini
ifodalash:
o Agar o‘tgan vaqtda ikki voqea bir vaqtning o‘zida sodir bo‘lgan bo‘lsa, u holda
Past Continuous va Past Simple birga ishlatiladi.
o Misol: She was cooking dinner while her brother was watching TV. (U ovqat
tayyorlayotganida, uning ukasi televizor ko‘rmoqda edi.)
3. O‘tgan vaqtda harakatlarning vaqtini yoki davomiyligini ko‘rsatish:
o Past Continuous ko‘pincha o‘tgan zamonda vaqtni yoki harakatning
davomiyligini ta'kidlash uchun ishlatiladi.
o Misol: They were talking about the project for two hours. (Ular loyiha haqida
ikki soat gaplashishardi.)
4. Kelajakdagi rejalashtirilgan voqealar:
o Ba'zan Past Continuous kelajakdagi rejalashtirilgan yoki oldindan belgilangan
voqealar uchun ham ishlatiladi, bu holatda kelajakdagi harakatlar o‘tgan vaqtga
o‘xshash tarzda ifodalanadi.
o Misol: This time next week, I will be flying to London. (Keyingi hafta shu
vaqtda men Londonga uchayotgan bo‘laman.)

Farq Past Simple va Past Continuous orasida:

 Past Simple: o‘tgan zamonda yakunlangan va aniq bir voqea yoki harakatni ifodalaydi.
o Misol: I saw a movie yesterday. (Men kecha film ko‘rdim.)
 Past Continuous: o‘tgan zamonda davom etayotgan yoki bir vaqtning o‘zida sodir
bo‘lgan voqealarni ifodalaydi.
o Misol: I was watching a movie when you called. (Sen qo‘ng‘iroq qilganingda
men film ko‘rayotgandim.)
