Q5. Determine the response of LTI discrete time system governed by the difference equation
y(n) — 0.2y(n —1) — 0.03y(n — 2) = x(n)+0.4x(n —1) for the input, x(n) = 0.2" u(n) and with initial
condition, y(-2) = 0, y(-1) = 0.5 . (8)

Ql. (a) Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) is the frequency domain representation of sequence
x(n) by samples of its spectrum X(w). Prove that the multiplication of DFTs of two
sequences results in their circular convolution in time domain.
(b) How can we compute the N-point DFT of two real valued sequences x, (n)
and x, (n)
using one N-point DFT. (4+4)
Q2. (a) IIR digital filter can be designed, from an analog filter, by converting an analog filter
H(s) into a digital filter H (z) using suitable transformation. However the transformation
should be such that the stability is preserved in the Z-domain. One of the methods of
this category is approximation of derivatives. Derive the expression for this method and
show that the implication of this transformation is that the j Q-axis is mapped into a
circle of radius 0.5, centered at in Z-plane.
(b) The mapping used for impulse invariance method is z = e'r . Transform the analog filter

transfer function 11„(s)= 1 , into a digital filter H (z) using the impulse-invariant
(s + a)-
method. (4+4)

Q3.(a)The major factors that influence the choice of structure for the realization of discrete time
system are computational complexity, memory requirements and finite word length
effects in the computations. Determine the lattice coefficients corresponding to the FIR
filter with following system function
H(z) =1+ 0.18z-' +0.236z' +0.3z'
(b) Determine the parallel realizations for the system described by the following system
function.

10 1-- z-1)(1-- 2 z1(1+ 2z-1)
H(z)= 3 y 1 2 3
