Ropework
The 8 basic knots

Knot- Practical knots are classified by function, including hitches, bends, loop knots, and splices: a hitch
fastens a rope to another object; a bend fastens two ends of a rope to each another; a loop knot is any knot
creating a loop; and splice denotes any multi-strand knot, including bends and loops.

Rope - a group of yarns, plies, fibres, or strands that are twisted or braided together into a larger
and stronger form. Ropes have tensile strength and so can be used for dragging and lifting. Rope
is thicker and stronger than similarly constructed cord, string, and twine.
Description of knots and
their uses
Sheet bend- sheet bend, or weaver's knot, is widely used by sailors for uniting two
ropes of different sizes. The end of one rope is passed through a loop of the other, is
passed around the loop, and under its own standing part.

Square knot- square knot is composed of two overhand knots turned in

opposite ways. It flattens when pulled tight, making it useful in first aid and for
tying packages.

Clove hitch-clove hitch is an ancient type of knot, made of two successive single
hitches tied around an object. It is most effectively used to secure a middle
section of rope to an object it crosses over, such as a line on a fencepost.

Reef knot- The reef knot, or square knot, is an ancient and simple binding
knot used to secure a rope or line around an object. It is sometimes also
referred to as a Hercules knot.

Figure 8 knot- a type of stopper knot, meaning that it is often used to prevent
hauling or rock-climbing ropes from slipping through a narrow hole, retaining
device, or carabiner.
Fisherman's knot-a bend (a knot for joining two lines) with a symmetrical
structure consisting of two overhand knots, each tied around the standing part
of the other.

Carrick bend-The Carrick bend, also known as the Sailor's breastplate, is a

knot used for joining two lines.
Overhand knot-overhand knot is the simplest type of knot and is used to make
a knob in a rope, string, or cord.
Citizenship
(in the home)
Family- the simplest and smallest unit of society and the
real fountain of culture. If this fountain remains pure,
man's culture has promise. But if it becomes polluted, all
the rest will turn to dust and ashes, since the home is the
foundation of the entire social structure.

House chores:
•Folding clothes- if your mother did the laundry, you need to
fold the clothes.
•Fixing the bed- after you wake up, you need tovfix
the bed you use. Not the bed will fix itself.
•Swiping the floor- you need to keep
your house clean.
•Washing the dishes- after you done
eating you need to clean the dishes.
•Doing the laundry- Because if you have nothing else to wear,
why would you wait for
your parents to do the laundry?
Physical Fitness
Physical Fitness- a state of health and well-being and, more specifically, the
ability to perform aspects of sports, occupations, and daily activities. Physical
fitness is generally achieved through proper nutrition, moderate-vigorous
physical exercise, and sufficient rest along with a formal recovery plan.

Exercise- a subset of physical activity that is planned, structured,

and repetitive and has as a final or an intermediate objective
the improvement or maintenance of physical fitness.

Basic exercises Activities

•Pushups •Cycling
•Situps •Joggign
•Squats •Sports
•Jumping jacks •Walking
Cooking
Cooking- cooking, the act of using heat to prepare food for
consumption.
Why we need to cook the food?
cooking destroys harmful germs in the food. Cooked food can be easily
digested and absorbed by the digestive system in the body. Cooked food is
comparatively tastier than raw food.

Basic Cooking Equipments:

Cutting board- uses to protect your table from
scratches and to keep your food clean while cutting.

Knife- use to cut goods (vegetables, meat, fruits,

etc).
Pan- uses to fry meats.
Can opener- uses to open canned foods.
Stove- be careful while using this because it uses fire to
cook the food.

(Remember: if you want to cook but don't know how to cook yet, you can ask an elder for
help).
