The document describes significant changes to a small island and the town of Frenton due to tourism and urban development between 1990 and 2012. The island saw the construction of accommodations, a reception center, and a restaurant, while Frenton experienced the replacement of old structures with modern buildings, the doubling of the hospital size, and the construction of new apartments and commercial facilities. The picture illustrates some changes to a small island which has been

developed for tourism.

In general, the island changed significantly with the introduction of tourism.
Besides, the island became more accessible as the development of the traffic
system and other facilities.
Before being converted into a tourism attraction, the small island was bare
apart from a few trees. To meet the need of staying, a total of 15
accommodations were built and arranged around two circular footpaths. Each
block included 6 and 9 small huts, which were located in the West corner and
the island center, respectively. Between these two blocks a new reception
center was constructed. People also paved a vehicle track that led further to
the north, where a restaurant was situated.
Moving further southward, a pier was erected for the accessing purpose.
Visitors could move directly to the reception building thanks to the vehicle
track linking the pier with the building. Furthermore, there was a designated
swimming zone in western tip, where the beach remained untouched after the
development.
The diagrams dedicate the development of Frenton between 1990 and 2012.
Overall, the maps revealed a mixture of alterations and resistant
constructions. Besides, the most noteworthy feature is the proliferation of flats
to meet the high demand of houses.
Firstly, some old areas in 1990 were replaced by modern construction. A new
restaurant was built on the west of the map, which had been the original place
of the old bank. Moreover, the hospital next to the high street, in the center,
doubled its size in nearly 20 years. Another striking feature is that a huge
amount of trees situated in the south-west corner were chopped down to
make room for a technopark. However, the educational section in the north-
west corner and the library next between the hospital and the new park was
left unchanged.
Move to the east side of the high street, a huge area containing a cafe and
park was demolished and developed hotels and golf courses. Due to the
increasing population, three blocks of apartments were constructed. First
block was built to the north of the high street with the cost of disappearance of
the previously green spaces that existed in the 1990. A small block in the
north-east and a bigger one replacing the houses in the east were also utilized
to satisfy citizens’ staying demand. Furthermore, moving to the south-east
corner, the traditional shops and theater were replaced by the modern
supermarket and cinema.
