NETWORK HARDWARE LOCK INSTALLATION
Installation instructions for NETWORK licenses v2025.c
The files mentioned in these instructions, required to install our software, are located in the 'Installation in
English' directory of the CYPE programs installation DVD (or the directory where the installation file of the
'complete version' has been downloaded from our website).

1. The network hardlock, license keys indicated in step 2 (if they are required) and the Server for network
hardlocks indicated in step 4 must be installed on the same computer. This computer does not have to be
a network server. CYPE programs can be installed on any computers of the network, including the
computer at which the hardlock is going to be connected.
2. Key installation (only if the user has received keys)
If you have received keys, these will have been sent by CYPE by e-mail. This e-mail contains two files; one
with 'clv' format and the other with 'rtf' format. The name of the two files matches your license number. If
you have several licenses, please make sure the name of the files matches the license number of the
hardlock which is connected to or is going to be connected to the computer.
The file with 'clv' format contains your license keys, which will be processed by CYPE programs if copied to
the 'CYPE Ingenieros' directory of the hard disk drive where the Server for network hardlocks is going to be
installed (step 4) and where the hardlock is going to be connected. If no CYPE programs (the actual
program or the Server for network hardlocks) are installed, the 'CYPE Ingenieros' directory will not exist. In
this case, copy the 'clv' file to the 'CYPE Ingenieros' directory after having installed the Server for network
licenses (step 4).
The file with 'rtf' format is only useful if you have any problems copying the 'clv' file. The 'rtf' file can be
read by a text processor and contains the license keys so they may be installed manually (typing them in
one by one). To enter the codes using the 'rtf' file, execute the file: 'Install Enter keys.exe'. Follow the
indicated instructions and, once the program has been installed, open it to enter the keys which have been
provided.
3. User license lock connection to the parallel port (only if the user license hardlock is for a parallel port)
Connect the parallel port hardlock. Please recall that the network hardlock, the license keys (if they exist)
and the Server for network hardlocks indicated in step 4, must all be installed on the same computer.
4. Network license hardlock server installation
Check that the TCP/IP protocol is installed on all the computers using the program and where the hardlock
is connected or is going to be connected.
Execute the file: 'Install Server for network hardlocks.exe' at the computer where the hardlock is connected
or is going to be connected.
Upon concluding the installation, the Server for network hardlocks will execute itself automatically. The
dialogue box 'Hardlock Server' can then be minimised (not closed). If the license hardlock is a USB
hardlock, it should not have been connected yet and the Server for network hardlocks will display an error
message indicating it cannot find the license hardlock or it has not been able to start. Do not worry. Accept
the error message and, now, connect the USB hardlock. Having done so, execute the Server for network
hardlocks by selecting the shortcut icon created on the computer Desktop or within the menu 'All programs
> CYPE Ingenieros Version...' which can be executed using the Windows 'Start' key (the location of the
shortcut icon will depend on the options you have selected during the installation process).
5. Installation of CYPE programs
Installation of all the programs or individual programs can be done on any computer connected to the
network of the computer to which the hardlock is connected, including that computer itself.
If you wish to install the complete program package, double click on the 'Install CYPE Menu.exe' file. If you
wish to install an individual program, access the 'Install individual programs' directory and double click on
the installation file of the corresponding program.
If your license contains connections to CAD programs, they may be installed by accessing the 'Install
connections with CAD programs' directory, and then opening the installation file of the corresponding
connection. These connections are not jointly installed with the complete package.
If your license contains Arquimedes Server (multiple user work in Arquimedes), it may be installed by
opening 'Install Arquimedes' data base server.exe' at the computer from which access to the remote
databases of Arquimedes will be controlled. The database server is not jointly installed with the complete
package.
SINGLE-USER HARDWARE LOCK INSTALLATION
Installation instructions for licenses with SINGLE USER hardlocks v2025.c
The files mentioned in these instructions, required to install our software, are located in the 'Installation in
English' directory of the CYPE programs installation DVD (or the directory where the installation file of the
'complete version' has been downloaded from our website).

1. Key installation (only if the user has received keys)

If you have received keys, these will have been sent by CYPE by e-mail. This e-mail contains two files; one

The file with 'clv' format contains your license keys, which will be processed by CYPE programs if copied to
the 'CYPE Ingenieros' directory of the hard disk drive where the program is installed or is going to be
installed. If the program is not installed, the 'CYPE Ingenieros' directory will not exist. In this case, copy the
'clv' file to the 'CYPE Ingenieros' directory after installing the program (step 3).
Follow the
indicated instructions and, once the program has been installed, open it to enter the keys which have been
provided.
2. User license lock connection to the parallel port (only if the user license hardlock is for a parallel port)
If your license is a parallel port license, connect it to the port. If it is a USB hardlock, it should not be
connected until the program has been completely installed.
3. Installation of CYPE programs
If you wish to install the complete program package, double click on the 'Install CYPE Menu.exe' file. If you
wish to install an individual program, access the 'Install individual programs' directory and double click on
the installation file of the corresponding program.
If your license contains connections to CAD programs, they may be installed by accessing the 'Install

connection. These connections are not jointly installed with the complete package.
If your license contains Arquimedes Server (multiple user work in Arquimedes), it may be installed by
opening 'Install Arquimedes' data base server.exe' at the computer from which access to the remote
databases of Arquimedes will be controlled. The database server is not jointly installed with the complete
package.
4. USB license connection (only if the user license is a USB license hardlock)
If your license key is a USB hardlock and the required software has been installed, it can now be connected.
PROBLEMS DETECTING THE NETWORK HARDWARE LOCK
There are two network hardware lock configuration types: the setup in the computer where the hardlock is
placed (hardlock server) and the setup on the computer where the hardlock is connected (client):
1. Hardware lock server. Execute file: 'Install network hardware lock server.exe', as specified in the
installation instructions, then minimise (not close) the 'Hardware lock server' window. On-screen
information on the options can be found in this window.
2. Client. To access the client configuration, open a program and click on the 'Help' menu, then, select
'About...'. The 'Permissions' window will appear. Within this window, select the 'Network hardware lock
configuration' button. Information on the options are displayed in this new dialogue box.

CASE 1. The hardware lock is not detected at the computer to which it is connected. Check that:
1. A network card is available.
2. The TCP/IP protocol is installed.
3. The network hardware lock controller is activated.

CASE 2. The hardware lock is not detected at a client computer. Check that:
1. At the hardware lock server, the network hardlock controller or driver is activated.
2. At the client computer:
A network card is available.
The TCP/IP protocol is installed.
Check that the client computer can detect the hardware lock server. For this:
Execute an MS-DOS session.
Type the command: 'ping', followed by the network name of the server computer. A number will be
displayed within brackets and separated by full stops. Write this number down; it identifies the
computer where the hardware lock is installed. For example, if you type: 'C:\ping server', where
'server' refers to the network name for the computer that has the hardlock installed, you will then
see a text similar to: 'Pinging the server [192.168.0.32] with 32 bytes of data'.
If the hardlock server cannot be detected, it could be because the IP addresses of both computers
are not compatible. In this case, obtain your IP address from the hardlock server and configure this
IP address in the client computer so that it is compatible with the server's. To do so, follow these
instructions in the client computer: Edit the TCP/IP protocol configuration from: My PC > Control
Panel > Network. It is possible that there may be more than one TCP/IP protocol in the list of
network elements, if the machine has telephone access to networks, or has more than one network
card. Select the TCP/IP protocol corresponding to the network card you wish to configure and click
on: Properties. A dialogue box with various tabs will open. Click on the 'IP address' tab. Here select
the option: Specify an IP address. Type an IP address which is compatible with the hardlock server's
IP address. Two IP addresses are compatible when, having the same sub-network masks, the
numbers change only in a 0 sub-network mask. For example, if the sub-network mask is:
225.225.225.0, then IP addresses 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2 will be compatible. In more
complex networks, there may be sub-network masks in which one of the numbers is neither 255 nor
0, but this is not common.
If the hardlock server is visible, there may be a problem with the port. Make sure that the hardlock
server and client programs are using the same port. To do so, click on the 'Advanced configuration'
at the hardlock server, consult the 'Server port' and 'Locating port' values, write them down and
check that the client computers have the same values in the 'Network hardware lock configuration'
window. If, having indicated the same values for the ports, the hardlock is still not detected, there
may be a router or firewall inside the network preventing the connection. To solve this, change the
value of the ports at all the computers in the network that are clients of the hardlock and in the
server (place the same value for all).
Finally, if this also fails, the configuration of the router or the firewall must be changed.

CASE 3. Novell Networks

The network hardware lock does not operate with the Novell server. This is because the hardlock server is
a win32 application and it must be executed in a Windows operating system. In any case, the hardlock
server can work for one of the Novell network clients as long as this computer, as well as the other
computers on which the program is to be installed, operate with Windows and have the TCP/IP protocol
installed.
PROBLEMS DETECTING THE SENTINEL HARDWARE LOCK (CREAM COLOUR)
This hardware lock does not operate with Windows NT, 2000, XP. If you have one of these operating systems,
please contact CYPE's Technical Support Department so you may be provided with a different type of hardlock.
Otherwise, check the following:
1. The hardware lock has been placed correctly in the parallel port of the computer.
2. Disconnect the printer cable and other hardware locks that may be connected to the parallel port.
3. Uninstall the drivers of other peripherals connected to that parallel port or connect the hardware lock to
another parallel port. An example of a non-transparent driver is that of the HP Laserjet 51 printer and
some scanner drivers.
4. Check that the parallel port is not disabled in the Bios.
5. Check whether the hardware lock works at another computer.
PROBLEMS DETECTING THE UNIKEY HARDWARE LOCK
This type of hardware lock does not work with versions earlier than 97.1.a.
Otherwise, check the following:
1. The hardware lock has been placed correctly in the parallel port of the computer.
2. Set the environment variable 'ssi_act' with value '200,200,500' and restart the computer. In Windows
98, to set this variable, edit file c:\autoexec.bat, add the line: 'set ssi_act=200,200,500' (without the
quotation marks) and then restart the computer.
3. If you have the hardware lock at parallel port 2, set the environment variable 'ssi_lpt' with value '2' and
then restart the computer.
4. Disconnect the printer cable and other hardware locks that may be connected to the parallel port.
5. Uninstall the drivers of other peripherals connected to that parallel port or connect the hardware lock to
another parallel port. An example of a non-transparent driver is that of the HP Laserjet 51 printer and
some scanner drivers.
6. Check that the parallel port is not disabled in the Bios.
7. Check whether the hardware lock works at another computer.
