GP Mas202

The MAS202 group project requires students to analyze secondary data related to various topics using Excel for inferential statistics. Each group must conduct hypothesis testing, construct confidence intervals, perform regression analysis, and use ANOVA with specific requirements for data samples. A written report and a 30-minute presentation of the findings are also required.

GROUP PROJECT - MAS202

In this project, you will work in a group and present your work to the class.
Each group will search for secondary data (related to housing, finance,
health, or any topic of your choice) and use Excel to perform inferential
statistics to extract useful information.
Requirements: The data used must include at least 3 independent samples,
and each sample must contain a minimum of 80 observations.
Specifically, you are required to apply all of the following techniques to your
data:

1. Test a hypothesis and construct a confidence interval for the mean of a

population.
2. Test a hypothesis and construct a confidence interval for the proportion
of a population.
3. Test a hypothesis and construct a confidence interval for the difference
in means of two populations.
4. Test a hypothesis and construct a confidence interval for the difference
in proportions of two populations.
5. Regression analysis: In this requirement, you need to complete the fol-
lowing steps:
(a) Identify two random variables X and Y in your data. For instance,
X = height, Y = weight.
(b) Create a scatter plot for the data. Do you observe a linear relation-
ship?
(c) Calculate the sample correlation coefficient r.
(d) Find the equation of the estimated regression line and use it to predict
a future value for Y .
(e) Test the significance of the regression.
6. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA): Use ANOVA to test whether there is
a significant difference between the means of the independent samples.
Interpret the results of the ANOVA analysis and draw conclusions from
your data.

Report and presentation requirements:

• The group must submit a written report (maximum 12 pages) along

with the processed data (cite the group’s data source).
• Each group will have 30 minutes to present their results and answer
questions from the teacher and classmates.
