DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INTELLIGENCE
AND INTELLECT
 Intellect and intelligence are interrelated. Intellect, as a matter of fact, has been for
long considered as a branch of intelligence. This makes most people use the two
words interchangeably.
 Intelligence is a term used to refer to an individual’s ability to acquire and then apply
skills and knowledge.
 Intellect is defined as the faculty of understanding and reasoning objectively,
especially regarding abstract matters.
 Qualities of an Intelligent Person: enticed with deep talks, curious, open-minded,
sometimes a loner, usually disorganized.
 Qualities of an Intellectual person: Thinks based on reasoning, looks for facts, takes
calculated risks.
MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCE TYPES
 Naturalist Intelligence
-Naturalist intelligence designates the human ability to discriminate among living things
(plants, animals) as well as sensitivity to other features of the natural world (clouds, rock
configurations).
 Musical Intelligence -Musical intelligence is the capacity to discern pitch, rhythm, timbre,
and tone.
 Logical-Mathematical Intelligence -Logical-mathematical intelligence is the ability to
calculate, quantify, consider propositions and hypotheses, and carry out complete
mathematical operations.
 Existential Intelligence -Sensitivity and capacity to tackle deep questions about human
existence, such as the meaning of life, why we die, and how did we get here.
 Interpersonal Intelligence -Interpersonal intelligence is the ability to understand and interact
effectively with others.
MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCE TYPES
 Bodily-Kinesthetic Intelligence -Bodily kinesthetic intelligence is the capacity to
manipulate objects and use a variety of physical skills.
 Linguistic Intelligence -Linguistic intelligence is the ability to think in words and to use
language to express and appreciate complex meanings.
 Intra-personal Intelligence -Intra-personal intelligence is the capacity to understand
oneself and one’s thoughts and feelings, and to use such knowledge in planning
and directioning one’s life.
 Spatial Intelligence -Spatial intelligence is the ability to think in three dimensions.
Core capacities include mental imagery, spatial reasoning, image manipulation,
graphic and artistic skills, and an active imagination.
RULES AND TECHNIQUES IN TRAINING
ONE'S INTELLECT
 1. Seek Novelty -It is no coincidence that geniuses like Einstein were skilled in
multiple areas, or polymaths, as we like to refer to them.
 2. Challenge Yourself -There are absolutely oodles of terrible things written and
promoted on how to "train your brain" to "get smarter".
 3. Think Creatively -When I say thinking creatively will help you achieve neural
growth, I am not talking about painting a picture, or doing something artsy, like we
discussed in the first principle, Seeking Novelty.
 4. Do Things the Hard Way-I mentioned earlier that efficiency is not your friend if you
are trying to increase your intelligence.
 5. Network -And that brings us to the last element to maximize your cognitive
potential: Networking. What’s great about this last objective is that if you are doing
the other four things, you are probably already doing this as well. If not, start.
