❖ Introduction
Amines are organic compounds and functional groups that
contain a basic nitrogen atom with a lone pair. They are
derivatives of ammonia where one or more hydrogen atoms
are replaced by alkyl or aryl groups. Amines play a vital role
in the chemistry of life and are found in many biological
systems, pharmaceuticals, dyes, and industrial chemicals.
