MATHEMATICS – EXTRA PROBLEMS

CLASS X CIRCLES
1. In PA and PB are tangents to the circle drawn from
an external point P. CD is the third
tangent touching the circle at Q. if PA = 15 cm, find
the perimeter of ∆PCD.
2. If PQ is a tangent drawn from an external point P to a circle with centre O and
QOR is a diameter
where length of QOR is 8 cm such that ∠POR = 120°, then find OP and PQ.
3. Two equal circles, with centres O and O', touch each other at X. OO' produced
meets the circle with centre O' at A. AC is tangent to the circle with centre O,
at the point C. O'D is perpendicular to AC. Find the value of DO '/CO.
4. In the given figure, OP is equal to diameter of the
circle. Prove that ABP is an equilateral triangle.
5. From a point P, two tangents PA and PB are drawn
to a circle C(0, r). If OP = 2r, then find ∠APB.
Prove that triangle APB is an equilateral triangle.
6. ∆ABC is an isosceles, in which AB = AC,
circumscribed about a circle. Show that BC is
bisected at the point of contact.
7. AB is a tangent drawn from a point A to a circle
with centre O and BOC is a diameter of the
circle such that ∠AOC =110⁰. Find ∠OAB.
8. From an external point P, 25cm away from the
centre O of the circle having radius 7cm, two
tangents PA and Pb are drawn as shown in the fig. Find the perimeter of
∆PQR.

9. The tangent at a point C of a circle and a diameter AB when extended
intersect at P. If ∠PCA = 110⁰, find
∠CBA.
10. In the given fig. AB is diameter of a circle
centred at O. BC is a tangent to the circle
at B. If OP bisects the chord AD and
∠AOP = 60⁰, then find ∠C.

11. In the given fig. AB and CD are common tangents to two circles of unequal radii,
Prove that AB = CD
