Discovery 4: Lab - View and Customize Dashboards: Time For A Lab Activity!
Introduction
Complete this lab exercise to practice what you learned in the “Using Dashboards” section of this course. In this
activity, you will learn how to use the various monitoring features of Cisco EPN Manager.
Lab Topology
Task 1: Use a Dashboard
The purpose of this task is to use the Cisco EPN Manager dashboards to monitor the network.
Activity Procedure
Complete these steps:
Step 1
From the jump host, open the Google Chrome web browser and click the Cisco EPN Manager bookmark
(https://epnm-40.lab.local) on the toolbar to access your Cisco EPN Manager server.
Step 2
Log in as user root with the password Pass1234.
Step 3
From the menu, choose Dashboard > Network Summary > Network Devices.
The Network Summary set of dashboards is displayed, with the Network Devices tab selected. (This might be
the page that you selected as your home page.)
Step 4
At the top of the page, the Metrics dashlet provides high-level status information. Click the > icon to view all
metrics (if not all are already displayed).
Step 5
Change the Time Frame to Past 1 Hour and notice how it changes the zoom on the dashlets. By default, all
dashlets display information based on the global Time Frame setting selected. Changes to the Time Frame filter
are reflected in all dashlets.
Step 6
On the Top N CPU Utilization dashlet, change Zoom to 1d. Note that this action does not change Zoom on any
other dashlet or the Time Frame Filter.
Step 7
Click the Pencil icon and edit the Top N CPU Utilization dashlet to show only Average, Maximum, and Current
utilization. Click Save and Close.
Step 8
Move the Network Topology dashlet to the top left by dragging it (click and hold the mouse and then drag).
Often it is easier to move dashlets by first minimizing them.
Step 9
Click a device IP in the Top N CPU Utilization dashlet. What page is displayed?

Step 14
Click the browser back button to return to the Network Summary dashboard.
Step 15
From the menu, choose Dashboard > Device Trends > Device. The Device Trends set of dashlets is
displayed, with the Device tab selected.
Step 16
Choose one of the PE devices from the Devices drop-down menu.
Step 17
Choose a time period from the Time Frame drop-down menu, and click Go.
