Semiconductor Materials that have the resistance levels between Germanium, selenium, silicon
those of a conductor and an insulator are
reffered to as semiconductor
Types of semiconductor P & N type P-type semiconductors are created by
doping an intrinsic semiconductor with
acceptor impurities. N-types comes from
the negative charge of the electron.
P- N junction potential barrier The potential barrier in the PN-junction diode is ---
the barrierinwhich the charge requires additional
force for crossing the region.
Application:- semiconductors are used in the designing of logic gates, digital circuits, analog circuits such as
oscillators and amplifiers.

Question:- 1.what is semiconductor ?

Summary :- Materials that have the resistance levels between those of a conductor and an insulator are
reffered to as semiconductor.

Assignment:- 1.Name the main two types of semiconductor ?

2.What is the barrier potential in a semiconductor ?

Next topic:- Effect of temperature , breakdown voltage
