DebrisX Project Report
DebrisX Project Report
Debris Cleanup
Executive Summary
DebrisX is an innovative project aimed at addressing the growing problem of space debris
by deploying AI-powered robotics to identify, capture, and remove debris from Earth's
orbit. This project utilizes advanced robotic arms and machine learning algorithms to
detect, classify, and safely remove debris, ensuring the sustainability of future space
missions.
Problem Statement
Space debris is a major issue for space exploration and satellite operations. Over 500,000
pieces of debris orbit the Earth, including defunct satellites, spent rocket stages, and smaller
fragments. This debris poses a threat to active satellites, space stations, and crewed
missions. DebrisX aims to tackle this problem by using AI-powered robotics to clean space,
thus ensuring safer space operations.
Robotics Design
DebrisX uses a custom-built robotic arm system designed to capture space debris with high
precision. The robotic arms are capable of adjusting their reach and mobility to handle
debris of various sizes and shapes. The design integrates advanced sensors for visual and
spatial awareness, allowing the arm to detect and manipulate objects in space.
AI Integration
Artificial Intelligence is utilized to enhance the detection, classification, and removal of
debris. Machine learning models process data from space cameras and sensors to identify
debris in orbit. AI also helps in making real-time decisions regarding the approach and
method of debris collection based on size, speed, and location.
Project Timeline
The project will proceed through the following phases:
1. Concept Design and Feasibility Study (1 month)
2. Robotic Arm Development and Testing (3 months)
3. AI System Integration and Simulation (2 months)
4. Final Assembly and Space Testing (2 months)
5. Final Evaluation and Deployment (1 month)
Conclusion
DebrisX aims to be a groundbreaking solution in space debris removal, combining robotics
and AI to tackle one of the biggest challenges in space exploration. The successful
deployment of DebrisX would contribute to the sustainability of space activities and ensure
the safety of future space missions.
