By Kabutu Chuunga Bible Translation Errors

In the annals of human history, the growth of nations, the rise and fall of empires, appear as if dependent on the will and prowess of man; the shaping of events seems, to a great degree, to be determined by his power, ambition, or caprice. But in the word of God the curtain is drawn aside, and we behold, above, behind, and through all the play and counterplay of human interest and power and passions, the agencies of the All-merciful One, silently, patiently working out the counsels of His own will. Ellen White, Conflict and Courage, page 250. Is the Bible perfect? The messages of the Bible are perfect. The translations of the Bible are not perfect but that does not make the Bible in error. The Bible contains many apparent mistakes and inconsistencies. However, the Bible reveals just the Savior every human heart needs. How can an uninspired book contain all the principles so perfectly adapted to the wants and desire of a fallen world? Before we look at common translation errors and that most Christians have not seen, I want to firmly tell you that the Bible is an inspired word of God. "All scripture is given by inspiration of God." 2 Timothy 3:16. The Bible is a collection of manuscripts written by 37 different authors. All these men received the instructions to write whatever they wrote from God. In fact at the time of Jesus the name Bible was not in use. They referred the manuscripts as either scripture or the word of God. Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner? Matthew 21:42. Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. 1 Peter 2:6. But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth. Daniel 10:21. And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. Luke 4:4. And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it. Luke 8:21. And it came to pass the same night, that the word of God came to Nathan, saying 1 Chronicles 17:3. Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Proverbs 30:5. In fact, there are 32 verses in KJV that refer to the sacred writings as the "Scriptures" and 47 verses as the word of God. It is also interesting to note that the word Bible does not occur in the Bible itself. It is derived from the Latin biblia, which came from the Greek biblos, meaning "book." "The Bible points to God as its author; yet it was written by human hands; and in the varied style of its different books it presents the characteristics of the several writers. The truths revealed are all given by inspiration of God(2 Timothy 3:16); yet they are expressed in the words of men. The Infinite One by His Holy Spirit has shed light into the minds and hearts of His servants. He has given dreams and visions, symbols and figures; and those to whom the truth was thus

revealed have themselves embodied the thought in human language." Ellen White, The Great Controversy, v. 3. The following are seven reasons why as Christians we believe the Bible is true and is the only source of truth: 1. Evidence of Internal Consistency. The Bible consists of different 66 books written by 37 different authors over a period of about 1,500 years on three different continents. Probably the most controversial and volatile subject in all human history is Is there a God? Lets choose another subject not nearly as controversial, for example, food. Now select 37 different authors from the US to compile their thoughts and ideas about food. Do you think if we compiled all their writings together we would be in harmony? One author may say the best food is raw meat, the other green leafy vegetables, the other fruits. If there isnt harmony between 37 contemporary authors who all come from the same background to agree on something as simple as food doesnt it strike you as incredible that 37 different authors over a period spanning of 1,500 years on 3 continents from a myriad of cultures from various different social-economic backgrounds could write on the most controversial subject in history and they could be in harmony. 2. Evidence of History. All true and genuine history confirms and corroborates the Bible record. 3. Testimony of Archeology. US News stated that there has never been a single evidence of archeology in history that has contradicted what the Bible said. 4. Testimony of Science. All true science agrees with the Bible. In fact many of the great scientists of history have been Bible believing Christians (Newton, Einstein, Kepler, Copernicus, Galileo, Sir Francis Bacon, Gregor Mendel, William Thomson Kelvin, to name a few). There is no contradiction between true science and the Bible. 5. Testimony of Relevancy. The Bible began 1500 BC. When people pick up this book in search of the truth they find what they are looking for. All their needs are met. The Bible was relevant in the time of Moses, it was relevant in the time of Jesus and it is just as relevant to today. It is incredible that a book could speak so eloquently to a modern generation. 6. The Testimony of a Changed Life. Any Christian that you meet that has surrendered their life to Jesus will tell you that their life has changed when they began to read the Bible. The drunkard man will become sober man, the thief becomes an honest man. The Bible has the power to change the life and heart of man. 7. The testimony of prophecy. Prophecy is the prediction of future events; a forecast. To forecast the future reliably you would have to know what will happen before it happens. One-third of the Bible contains specific prophecies that have been fulfilled. Whoever inspired this book knew not only the past and the present but knew the future as well.

After understanding that the Bible is an inspired word of God could it be right to say it has been mistranslated somehow? The answer is yes and I will prove this to you. Man has tried to change certain parts of scripture through Bible translations and misinterpretations. The so called Bible Scholars in theological institutions of learning are taught theories of men as principles of scripture. Ellen White says, The erroneous teachings of popular theology have made thousands upon thousands of skeptics and infidels. There are errors and inconsistencies which many denounce as the teaching of the Bible that are really false interpretations of Scripture. . . . Instead of criticizing the Bible, let us seek, by precept and example, to present to the world its sacred, life-giving truths, that we may "show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light" (1 Peter 2:9). Ellen White, Gods Amazing Grace, page 30. There are so many versions of Bibles. Through these versions despite all being scripture or word of God we find some differences or inconsistence in some verses. This means that the translators from Hebrew and Greek to English had some inconsistence or hidden agendas. The version of the Bible that most scholars have accepted as being closer to the original languages is the King James Version (KJV). I will use the King James Version Bible to compare with other versions so that you can see the difference in some verses. We will start with 1 John 5:7 KJV 1 John 5:7 - For there are three that bear record in heaven, The Father, The Word and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. ESV 1 John 5:7 - For there are three that testify: GNB 1 John 5:7 There are three witnesses: ISV 1 John 5:7 For there are three witnesses: BBE 1 John 5:7 And the spirit is the witness, because the spirit is true. ASV 1 John 5:7 And it is the spirit that beareth witness, because the spirit is truth. NIV 1 John 5:7 For there are three that testify: NASB 1 John 5:7 For there are three that testify: NLT 1 John 5:7 - So we have these three witnesses Look at all these 9 versions and see how they differ on 1 John 5:7. Think of thousands of people who use these versions in the Christian churches. Dont you think that there is a problem with the translators? I strongly see a big problem with some of the translators. Let me show you how some of the translators regretted having involved themselves in the wrong writings of the word of God. I will start by showing you some quotes written by the sons of Westcott and Hort (published in 1896): The Life and Letters of Brooke Foss Westcott, and The Life and Letters of Fenton John Anthony Hort. Hort was a member of a secret society. In June he joined the mysterious company of the Apostles. He remained always a grateful and loyal member of the

secret club [ca. 1896] become famous for the number of distinguished men who have belonged to it. Hort, Life, volume 1, pp. 170 -171. On the 29th of September 1860 Westcott wrote to Hort: As to our proposed recension of the new testament, our objective would be, I suppose, to prepare a text for common and general use with such an end in view would it not be best to introduce only certain emendations into the received text and to note in the margin such as seem likely or noticeable? I feel most keenly the disgrace of circulating what I feel to be falsified copies of Holy Scriptures and am most anxious to provide something to replace them The margin will give ample scope for our ingenuity or principlesmy wish would be to leave the popular text except where it is clearly wrong. Life,Vol.1, pp. 228 -229. On the 15th of October 1860 Hort replied to Westcott: I entirely agree correcting one word with what you there say on the Atonement[that it] is an immoral and material counterfeit Certainly nothing can be more unscriptural than the modern limiting of Christs bearing our sins and sufferings to His death but indeed that is only one aspect of an almost universal heresy. Life,Vol.1, p. 430. On the 14th of May 1870 Hort wrote to Rev. J.L.I. Davies, No rational being doubts the need of a revised Bible; and the popular practical objections are worthless 1 John 5:7 might be got rid of in a month; and if that were done, I should prefer to wait a few years. Life,Vol.11, p. 128. It is quite impossible to judge the value of what appear to be trifling alterations merely by reading them one after another. Taken together, they have often important bearings which few would think of at first We have successfully resisted being warned off dangerous ground It is, one can hardly doubt, the beginning of a new period in church history. So far the angry objectors have reason for their astonishment. Hort, Life, pp. 138, 139. If you have followed these letters you will notice that these two men were engaged in creating a fake scriptural text to be used in churches. They actually succeeded even if their consciousness was not free. In their discussion they even talked about the alterations made to 1 John 5:7 in the letter Hort wrote on the 14th May 1870 to Rev. J.L.I Davies. The next one is Dr Frank Logsdon the co-founder of the New American Standard Version (ASV). He says, I must under God denounce every attachment to the New American Standard Version. Im afraid Im in trouble with the lordI wrote the format I wrote the prefaceIm in trouble; its wrong, terribly wrong; its frighteningly wrongAre we so nave that we do not suspect Satanic deception in all of this? Dr. Frank Logsdon; Co-founder, New American Standard Version. Dr. Frank Logsdon after writing the New American Standard Version came to his senses and realized that what he had done in misinterpreting and mistranslating the scriptures was actually satanic deception. He regretted what he did and could not reverse anything. Despite his statement that there was satanic deception when he was misinterpreting the New American Standard Version, we see churches and many Christians using this version today. Let us continue comparing these versions and see how a number of verses have been either partly altered or completely erased from the Holy Scripture. We have already seen how 1 John 5:7 has been altered to an extent where the original meaning has been lost. We will look at Luke 4:4:

KJV Luke 4:4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not leave by bread alone, but by every word of God. RSV Luke 4:4 And Jesus answered him, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone. When compared to KJV we see the last part but by every word of God missing here. NIV Luke 4:4 Jesus answered, It is written, Man does not live on bread alone. When compared to KJV we see the last part but by every word of God missing here. I have only compared King James Version (KJV) with the Revised Standard Version (RSV) and the New International Version (NIV). Try on your own to compare all the versions I used on 1 John 5:7 if you may have them. Let us look at a serious case in Mathew 18:11 where the whole verse has been erased in other versions. KJV Mathew 18:11 For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost. RSV The entire verse and message is missing. NIV The entire verse and message is missing. Let us continue to the book of Revelation. The book of Revelation was written by John. It is a prophetic book. Mind you this is an important book to every follower of Jesus because of the end time prophecies it contains. Blessed [is] he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time [is] at hand. Revelation 1:3. We will compare Revelation 22:14: KJV Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. RSV Revelation 22:14 Blessed are those who wash their robes NIV Revelation 22:14 Blessed are those who wash their robes ASV Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that wash their robes Just look at these verses and see how the meaning has been change. Is there any similarity between that do his commandments and wash their robes? What where the translators trying to achieve by changing the meaning of this important verse? They want people to forget about the perfect commandments of God so that they can impose man made commandments. Gods hand will not allow them to achieve their false agenda. The book of Revelation is our compass directing us where to go and showing us how far we have gone and how near home is. Therefore

anyone who tries to change anything in it is simply trying to change our compass so that we can end up missing the direction. God forbids this and such people will be punished. Let us go to another book of prophecy. This is no other than the book of Daniel. We will compare Daniel 3:25. KJV Daniel 3:25. He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the is like Son of God. RSV Daniel 3:25 and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods NIV Daniel 3:25 and the fourth looks like a son of the gods ASV Daniel 3:25 and the aspect of the fourth is like a son of the gods This verse is talking about the Son of God who is Jesus. The story here is about Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego. These three Hebrew boys were set to look after the affairs of the province in Babylon. When king Nebuchadnezzar made a decree that everyone should worship the golden image, these boys refused to bow before this image because they saved the Most High God in the heavens. Due to this they were cast in the fiery furnace so that they could burn and be an example to any who could refuse to worship the image. They prepared the burning fiery furnace to seven times hotter than before. It was really hot that the men who were throwing these three Hebrew boys were burnt by this exceedingly hot burning fiery furnace. When Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego were thrown in the furnace Jesus joined them and none of them was burnt. Now when they looked in the furnace they saw four people instead of three and the fourth one looked like the Son of God. Here the translators want to reduce God to gods putting Christ to be a son of gods. Already if you look at King James Version and those other versions the message is different on this verse. Thanks to the Holy Spirit who is opening our eyes so that we can see these errors. Let us look at Colossians 1:14. I want you to realize that we are not in a safe world. These leaders we see in our churches and governments some of them have agendas direct from the devil. Imagine these translators twisting and changing the word of God? What was the motive behind this? KJV Colossians 1:14. In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins. RSV Colossians 1:14. In whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. (..?......) NIV Colossians 1:14. In whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. (..?.....) Have you noted what is missing? In other versions they have removed the through his blood completely. This is done deliberately so that you and I do not see the value of Jesus blood on us. We really need to be careful with these other versions.

Our journey is still on. In the book of Mark 15:28 the verse has completely been erased in other versions. KJV Mark 15:28. And the scriptures was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors. RSV - The entire verse and message is missing. NIV - The entire verse and message is missing. Let us look at Luke 11:2-4 Here we find the lords prayer. KJV Luke 11:2-4 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. When you check other versions such as RSV and NIV, you will find that the words underlined are missing. Check these versions you will see what I am telling you. In the book of Acts we find the same alterations. Let us get there and investigate the alterations I am talking about. KJV Acts 8:36,37 And as they went on [their] way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, [here is] water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. RSV Acts 8:36,37 And as they went along the road they came to some water, and the eunuch said, See, here is water! What is to prevent my being baptized? Verse 37 is missing. NIV Acts 8:36,37 And they travelled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, Look, here is water. Why shouldnt I be baptized? Verse 37 is missing. Why do you think these translators omitted verse 37? The answer is simple. They do not want you to hear that the eunuch answered that he believed that Jesus is the Son of God. They want us not to believe in Jesus so that it can be easy for them to blindfold us with their wrong teachings. Let me end with the book of Revelation. We will look at Revelation 1:11. KJV Revelation 1:11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send [it] unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

RSV Revelation 1:11 Saying write what you see in the book and send it to churches to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea. In this version we see the Alpha and Omega, the first and the last being omitted. Their target is to reduce Jesus so that you and I cant know that Jesus is the Alpha and Omega, the first and the last. Their aim is to make you and I to be in a state where they can easily cheat us with another god in place of Christ. These and many more changes should make you realize that despite being an inspired word of God, man has tempered with other versions of the Bible and hence you should always stick to the King James Version Bible. My prayer is that the Holy Spirit opens your eyes so that you will be able to see these errors that Satan is pushing into our Christian lives.
