DETAILED LESSON PLAN

Subject: Computer Science

Grade Level: 10

Time Frame: 1 Hour

Date: (Insert Date)

Teacher: (Your Name)

I. OBJECTIVES
• Define hardware and software and explain their roles in a computer system.

• Identify different types of hardware components and their functions.

• Differentiate between system software and application software.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Different Parts of a Computer: Software and Hardware

Materials: Laptop, Projector, Whiteboard, Markers, Sample Computer Components (if

available)

References: Computer Science Module, MATATAG Curriculum Guide

III. PROCEDURE

A. Preliminaries
• Greet the students and check attendance.

• Set classroom expectations.

• Ask a student to lead the opening prayer.

Review:
Teacher: What do you remember about how computers work?

Student: Computers process data and help us do tasks faster.

Motivation:
Teacher: Show an image of a disassembled computer and a software interface.

Teacher: Can you name any of these parts? Why do you think they are important?

Student: That's a CPU! It is the brain of the computer.

B. Lesson Proper

Discussion:
• Define hardware as the physical components of a computer (e.g., CPU, RAM, Hard Drive,
Monitor, Keyboard).

• Define software as the set of instructions that tell the hardware what to do (e.g., Operating
System, Applications).

• Explain the two types of software:

• - System Software (e.g., Windows, macOS, Linux) that manages computer operations.

• - Application Software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Web Browsers, Games) that helps users
perform specific tasks.

C. Generalization
Teacher: Why is it important to understand both hardware and software?

Student: Because they work together! Without software, hardware won’t work, and vice
versa.
IV. EVALUATION
• True or False: (Students will determine if statements about hardware and software are
correct.)

• Short answer questions: (Explain the function of different computer components.)

• Rubric-based evaluation: (Assess students' charts based on accuracy, completeness, and

presentation.)

V. ASSIGNMENT
• Research and bring an image or example of a hardware component and a software
program to discuss in the next class.

• Write a short reflection on how software and hardware work together in everyday tasks.
