Introductory Message

Welcome to Internet Computing Fundamentals III Module on Working with
Worksheets in Microsoft Excel 2016.

This Self-Learning Module was collaboratively designed, developed and


reviewed by educators from the Schools Division Office of Pasig City headed by its
Officer-in-Charge Schools Division Superintendent, Ma. Evalou Concepcion A.
Agustin, in partnership with the City Government of Pasig through its mayor,
Honorable Victor Ma. Regis N. Sotto. The writers utilized the standards set by the K
to 12 Curriculum using the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELC) in
developing this instructional resource.

This learning material hopes to engage the learners in guided and independent
learning activities at their own pace and time. Further, this also aims to help learners
acquire the needed 21st century skills especially the 5 Cs, namely: Communication,
Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, and Character while taking into
consideration their needs and circumstances.

Welcome to the Internet Computing Fundamentals III Lesson 3.2 Working


with Worksheets in Microsoft Excel 2016.

This module was designed to provide you with fun and meaningful
opportunities for guided and independent learning at your own pace and time. You
will be enabled to process the contents of the learning material while being an active
learner.

This module has the following parts and corresponding icons:

Expectations - This points to the set of knowledge and skills


that you will learn after completing the module.

Pretest - This measures your prior knowledge about the lesson


at hand.

Recap - This part of the module provides a review of concepts


and skills that you already know about a previous lesson.

LESSON

Working With worksheets in Microsoft Excel 2016

Since a workbook contains several worksheets, users should be able to get


familiarize themselves with the different techniques on how to manipulate and
manage them efficiently and effectively. Let us now get acquainted with the
worksheet tab menus:

Creating/Inserting a worksheet:

There are three ways on how you can insert a worksheet:

1. By clicking the New Sheet Button on the Worksheet Tabs.

2. By right-clicking any worksheet tab and selecting Insert (Figure 1) on the menu
that appears to display the INSERT DIALOG BOX (Figure 2). On the dialog box,
select WORKSHEET.

3. By using the Home Tab>Cells Group>Insert Drop-Down Button>Insert Sheet.

Two Ways on How to Delete a Worksheet:

- Click the worksheet that you want to delete.


1. Right – click the mouse and on the menu that appears, click Delete.

Or

2. Use the Home Tab>Cells Group>Delete Drop-Down Button>Delete Sheet.

Renaming a Worksheet:

Before renaming a worksheet, these are the rules that you should be able to follow:

1. A worksheet name must be unique.

- No two worksheets should have the same name.

2. The word “history” in any cases is not allowed to be used as a name.

3. The worksheet name is up to 31 characters only.

4. Special characters are allowed except for the following: \ / ? * [ ] :

5. The apostrophe ( ‘ ) can only be used at the middle of a worksheet name.

Two ways to rename a worksheet:

- Click the worksheet that you want to rename.

A. First method:
1. Right – click the mouse and on the menu that appears, click Rename.

2. Type the worksheet name that you want to assign and click anywhere outside the
tab to finish it.

B. Second method:

1. Use the Home Tab>Cells Group>Format Drop-Down Button>Rename Sheet.

2. Follow step 2 on the first method of renaming a worksheet.

Ways to Move or Copy a Worksheet within a workbook:

1. Dragging to move the worksheet to a new location within the workbook:

1. 1.Click and drag the worksheet to any position within the worksheet tab.

1.2. Release the mouse.

2. Right-clicking
2.1. Right -click the worksheet that you want to move or copy.

2.2. On the menu that appears, click Move or Copy.

2.3. On the dialog box that appears, click on the Before sheet list the new position
of your worksheet.

Reminder:

Click this checkbox if


you want to create a
copy in your selected
position. Leaving this
box unchecked,
means that you want
to move only the
worksheet to a new
position.

Take note that when we say


COPY, you are duplicating the
worksheet MOVE means you
are transferring the position of
the worksheet.

2.4. Click the Ok button.

To move a worksheet to a new or another workbook:

1. Right - click the worksheet that you want to move or copy.


Reminder: Make sure that the other workbook file that you want to transfer the
worksheet is opened; otherwise it will be transferred to a new workbook.

2. On the menu that appears, click Move or Copy.

3. On the dialog box that appears, click on the dropdown arrow of To Book to display
the currently opened workbooks where you will be choosing to transfer the
worksheet.

4. Click the checkbox Create a Copy if you want a copy of it in your chosen workbook
before clicking the Ok button. Otherwise, just click the Ok button if you want to
move it to your chosen workbook.

To Hide a Worksheet:

1. Right-click the worksheet that you want to hide.

2. On the menu that appears, click Hide.

To unhide a Worksheet:

1. Right-click in any worksheet tab to display the Worksheet Tab Menu.


2. Click Unhide to display the Unhide Dialog Box, where all the hidden worksheets
are listed:

3. Select the worksheet that you want to unhide and click the Ok button.
