The document provides an introduction to artificial intelligence (AI), defining it as technologies enabling computers to perform tasks requiring human intelligence. It discusses the contributions of John McCarthy, the types of AI (ANI, AGI, ASI), and clarifies what does not qualify as AI. Additionally, it explains data and its types, distinguishing between structured and unstructured data.

AI Notes class -7th
Unit -1 (Introduction to AI)
1. What is artificial intelligence?
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a set of technologies that allow computers to perform tasks that usually require human intelligence. AI systems can learn, solve problems, and make decisions 2. Who is the father of AI? John McCarthy is known as the "father of artificial intelligence" (AI). In 1956, McCarthy organized the Dartmouth Conference, which is considered the birth of AI as a field of study 3. What is the definition of AI according to Niti Aayog? AI refers to the ability of machines to perform cognitive tasks like thinking, perceiving, learning, problem solving and decision making. 4. Explain the types of Artificial Intelligence? There are many types of artificial intelligence (AI) 1. Artificial Narrow Intelligence:- (ANI), also known as weak AI, is a type of artificial intelligence (AI) that can perform a single task well, but is not capable of general intelligence or human-like consciousness. 2. Artificial General Intelligence: - (AGI) also known as Strong AI, is a theoretical concept that describes a machine's ability to perform any intellectual task that a human can. AGI is a type of artificial intelligence (AI) that aims to replicate human intelligence. 3. Artificial Super Intelligence :- (ASI) is a hypothetical type of artificial intelligence (AI) that's smarter than the human brain. ASI would have advanced cognitive abilities, including reasoning, decision-making, and problem-solving. 4. What is not AI? Explain in Details. Technologies that need humans to operate, make decisions, and control the functionalities are not AI. Example. Such as A fully automatic washing machine can work on its own, but it requires human intervention to select the parameters of washing and to do the necessary preparation for it to function correctly before each wash, which makes it an example of automation, not AI. 5. What is Data? And explain the types of data. Data is a collection of raw facts which can which can be processed to make information out of it. Types of data 1. Structure Data :-A data which is organized in data base is called structure data 2. Unstructured Data :-A data which is not a organized in data base like text ,image and video is called unstructured data
