PREFACE

The series of reports under the main title, "APOLLO GUIDANCE

COMPUTER, Information Series," is published to inform members of
the technical staff at MIT / IL and Raytheon about the Apollo Guidance
Computer (AGC) subsystem. Each report issued deals with a separate
subject and is released as quickly as possible. Our main aim is to
make integrated information available as soon as possible and not to
wait until the design is finalized. Natura lly, as long as the design of
the whole system is not frozen, one has to expect changes. For this
reason the reports might not always be up to date, but they will be, we
hope, of substantial help to all members of MIT /IL and Raytheon work -
ing on the Apollo project. Positive criticism as well as additional in-
formation is appreciated and requested in order to help us make the
Apollo Guidance Computer Information Series (AGCIS) valuable. Please
contact Richard L. Volpi, Raytheon, Sudbury, at extension 2113 for
this purpose.

The AGCIS will include operational descriptions of all AGC sections and
detailed descriptions of the AGC programs which will be wired into core
ropes. Most issues of the AGCIS are classified CONFIDENTIAL; some
are unclassified. Each issue has a number in the FR-2-100 series.
Issue 1 is FR-2-101, Issue 2 is FR-2-102, etc. The code FR-2-100
identifies the Preface and List of Issues. Replaced issues carry the
letters A, B, C, etc after the code. Each text page is marked with
the proper code in the upper right corner, identifying to which issue
that page belongs (for instance FR- 2-1 00J). Pages which were replaced
or which were added to an issue carry the date of change in the lower
left corner . In order to keep issues current, errata sheets are distri-
buted to incorporate new pages and corrections .

The issues are numbered in the sequence in which they were prepared.
However, it is suggested that the issues be arranged in the folders ac-
cording to the sequence in the List of Issues.
