Relative Pronoun Usage Example
Who Refers to people (subject) The boy who is playing
soccer is my friend.
Whom Refers to people (object). The teacher whom we met
Formal usage. is very kind.
Whose Refers to possession (for The girl whose phone is
people or things) broken is calling her friend.
Which Refers to things or animals The book which is on the
table is mine.
That Refers to people, things, or The movie that we watched
animals was exciting.
Where Refers to places This is the house where I
grew up.
When Refers to time I remember the day when
we first met.
Why Refers to reasons The reason why I left is
personal.
