Case study-based questions are compulsory.

36. In a Sports event, the positions of four athletes running on a circular track at a
particular time is A,B,C and D respectively. The position of A,B and C is in
such a way that the measure of ∠𝐵𝐴𝐶 = 500 ,the measure of ∠𝐴𝐵𝐶 = 700 and the
measure of ∠𝐴𝐶𝐵 = 600 .

(i) Find the measure of ∠ADC as related to the figure. (1 marks)


(ii) Find the measure of ∠AOC in the circle. (1 marks)
(iii) a) If AD = CD find the measure of ∠DAC from the circle. (2 marks)

(iii) b) Find the measure of ∠BDC. (2 marks)

37. The taxi charges in UAE comprise of a fixed charge together with the charge for
the distance covered. It is common that Governments revise travel fares from
time to time based on various factors such as inflation (a general increase in
prices and fall in the purchasing value of money) on different types of vehicles
like auto, Rickshaws, taxis, Radio cab etc. Refer the following situations:

(i) For the first kilometre, the fixed charge is AED 8 and for the subsequent
distance it is AED 5 per km, Write the linear equation representing the
situation. (1

(ii) If this equation is plotted on a graph paper, then find the co-ordinates of
the point where the graph intersects the X-axis. (1 mark)

38. For the TMS care fair, grade IX students decided to make a conical tent in the
turf for the game. They were given 300 m² cloth to work on. As shown in the
figure they made the tent with height 24 m and diameter 14 m. The remaining
cloth was used for the floor.

(i) What was the slant height of the tent? (1 mark)


(ii) If the height of the conical tent is doubled while keeping the base
diameter constant, how does it affect the volume? (1 mark)
(iii) a) If the students were given 300 m² of cloth and used it to make the
conical tent, how much cloth was used for the tent? (2 marks)
